PS3 stopped reading discs

anyone have this happen? went to play tim tonight and it froze at the start menu. i restart the ps3 and it wouldnt read the game. i restart it, turn it off, eject, tried different games & dvds, nothing...

it looks like i have to send it in, but im hoping someone else had this problem and fixed it. i wont hold my breath tho

yep. i had the same thing. sent it back to sony. they replaced the blu-ray drive. you can search the absences forum and see how it went down for me.

god damn sony sucks ass. i didnt feel like waiting on the phone for an hour so i tried emailing... so they email me back tips on how to load games, like make sure the game is clean, and insert it label size up.. like im a retard or something, so they didnt help at all and now im gunna have to call. just venting go on.

mine keeps freezing. I thought it was just connection issues with walker (SC coach), but it froze last night too. I hardly ever play it, but i'm wondering if i'm gonna have to go down this path too...

My PS3 just joined the "I don't want to read your discs anymore club" last night. I went to fire it up and the thing just would not read any discs that I put in.

I haven't got a chance to call them yet but I think it is just out of warranty. If it is under warranty then I can get it fixed now. My luck it will be out of warranty and I can't afford to get it fixed right now.

while it sucks i had to pay, they did fix it really quick. they received it friday and shipped it yesterday, scheduled for thursday delivery.
