The UnTouchable Report
Season 27 - Week 6
A rundown of the week's hottest games.

The race for the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy kicks off between Navy and Air Force in this early season matchup. Both teams are off to a great start this season. Air Force knocked off South Florida and Utah State while Navy has cruised past two BCS teams in Maryland and #21 Connecticut while hanging tough with #18 South Carolina. Nightwing has only had two winning seasons in his short NDL career and looks to make it 3 with this one.
WHAT TO WATCH The Falcons have shown to be explosive in the ground game, averaging 191 yards per game. HB Jon Lee leads the league with a per game rushing average of a crazy 160 yards. He has yet to record a TD yet because QB Jaleel Awini has rushed in 4 himself in addition to the 4 he's thrown through the air. When the Falcons get deep into the red zone, Navy will need to be very careful to watch if Awini takes off from the pocket. Navy has been decent on defense, recording nearly 3 sacks and forcing over 2 turnovers per game. But the Navy linebackers will have to be on their game in this one to try and stop Lee should he get through the less-than-stellar defensive line. The Midshipmen gave up 224 rush yards to South Carolina which likely cost them the game. QB Keenan Reynolds will look for his favorite receiver Matt Aiken often. Look for Navy to run a lot of two back sets with HBs Darius Staten and Geoffrey Whiteside and run that read option often.
THE UNTOUCHABLE PREDICTION There are a lot of ifs here. IF Air Force can be disciplined enough to stop Navy's read option, they can win this game. IF Navy can limit Air Force's run game, they can win this game. I'm going with the latter.

The Mid-American Conference doesn't get spotlighted very often, but when they do, it features two young, up-and-coming coaches in the NDL. Each coach has been in the league less than 6 seasons and are looking to rebuild their brand after losing their respective BCS teams last season. Both are off to a hot start as well. Northern Illinois has beat two BCS teams in Mississippi State and California by a combined score of 53 to 14 while Kent State slipped past Bowling Green and #21 Connecticut but dropping the opener to a very touch Arizona State team. This game has the potential to be a preview of the MAC Championship game so both teams will want to take notes wisely.
WHAT TO WATCH The Huskies employ an erratic offense that makes it difficult for defenses to cover. Coach UF runs a lot of zone and option reads and uses a lot of motion as virtually every eligible player on offense is liable to receive a handoff from QB Jordan Lynch. Lynch himself likes to keep the ball often but hasn't proved to be a threat when he's not throwing. He's efficient when he does throw so Kent State will have to be ready for that play-action if they see Lynch drop back to pass. Kent State, on the other hand, will throw about 60% of the time as QB David Fisher has already amassed 857 yards passing through three games. Fisher has trouble with consistency, however, as he has thrown more picks (6) than touchdowns (4). HB Dri Archer is the more consistent player of the team, averaging over 100 yards rushing per game and finding the endzone 4 times.
THE UNTOUCHABLE PREDICTION Kent State's inconsistency has got me worried they can't hang with a team that's proven they can hang with the big boys. The Huskies steal one on the road but these two teams meet again in the MAC Championship.
