A lot of places shut their heat off at night. I know mine does.
Looks like they didnt make the announcement until after 3:30 PM. The train station is still packed with people that didnt know trains are not running. That sucks, walk 5 city blocks only to find that you cant go home. For some people, they cant go back to work if they close the office.
Tried to start my car today, wont start at all. We live in a house built in the 30's so the garage isnt heated and doesn't even fit cars in it. Looks like I am not getting back to college within the next 2 or 3 days.
We pulled our vehicles into the station this evening. -9...funny thing is I don't know if it will go below -9.....cause its easily -15. I'm praying there isn't a house fire tonight. The fire chief already said if we have a working house fire he wants 15 people called in right away. (we don't call people in off duty very much, if ever.)

I hope there isn't one either. My Dad's house burnt down on the coldest day of the winter 5 years ago. By the time all the trucks got to their house, their hoses were all frozen and they couldn't do anything. They just stood on the street and watched it burn.
Hot water pipes are frozen in my house (just downstairs) right now, cold water is still running. Odd. Any good tips for getting that hot water back on? We have the cabinets open. I'm not sure about the drip thing once it's actually frozen. I think you're supposed to stop at that point, so that the valve isn't open. But I could be wrong. Pipes aren't accessible, so nothing crazy like a blow dryer.
I went outside this morning to get the car ready. Came back in to take a shower and my penis was like a turtle trying to pull his head back into his shell.
On the news there was a house fire here in Cleveland and they could not fight it at first due to the cold weather.
They eventually got it under control.
2 firemen suffered hypothermia from being out there.
