are you trying to point out there are bad cops out there?
i mean, no shit dude.
A guy is trying to brush off negligent homicide in this thread and you are worried about me repeating myself?
I want to know how its negligent homicide when cop knocks on your door and you point a gun at him and get into a shooting? Where is it a crime to knock on the wrong door? Doesnt say they kicked the door in on the wrong apartment and stormed the residence and got into a shooting. Doesnt say the guy answered the door and they just shot him for no reason. Either one of those would be negligent. But instead it says they knocked on the door looking for someone and the guy opens the door and points a gun at them. I dont care if Im at the wrong house or not if I knock on the door and you open it a point a gun at me Im going to defend myself. Very much a tragedy and the county will be paying big money but the deputy wont get charged with a crime. Not unless there is more to the story that isnt reported which is possible since its a pretty small article.
Do you really fucking believe it was one cop just politely knocking on the door at 1:30AM? Can you really not see any reason why that man would have come to the door armed? C'mon, dude, stop it. Besides, the negligence goes back hours before they even showed up on the guy's doorstep - oh, and again, it was the wrong guy - just in case we forgot about that. Like, when they decided to use a no-knock on the wrong house. The type of shit that gets "civilians" twenty years.
Ultimately, I don't give two fucks if police have a scary job. They chose it and their chosen role in society is to "protect and serve" - according to them - and there are plenty of ways to enter a home and apprehend someone that may be less convenient and potentially less effective but safer to everyone involved.
Announce through a megaphone while in cover, perhaps? From a safe position, it is so much easier to asses the situation when you're fifty yards away. If nobody answers, then you knock/kick the door in. Innocent people won't get shot on the doorstep because the resident didn't realize who was there. You'll lose some evidence and arrests every so often and maybe the guy will take a hostage but now the situation can be resolved with reason and not adrenaline.
And I know that last paragraph was like OMG THE HORROR to you. You probably aren't even reading this sentence, having hit reply or closed the browser. But, that's how you live and how I don't. I want to live in a society where police must do more work and go the extra mile to ensure that everyone is safe during an arrest even if it raises their danger level slightly or inccreases the odds of losing evidence by taking more time to reesolve the problem instead of forcing residents into a NATURAL fight or flight response.
But, I value human life more than locking someone away for a couple years for possessing a small amount of drugs, and I find it disgsuting that the law enforcement of this country can basically do whatever to whomever, and more or less get away with it. I mean, just the fact that you are already trying to find ways to hang this guy - this dead guy - turns my stomach.
Until 2015. I promise you, I will be taking police officers and DA's lives and ruining them. It will probably take me a few years to get my feet under me, but when I do, I will be the true arbiter of "protect and serve" and I will not stop until I become a veritable Batman and have punished the lot of you.
