Call 1: The Reply
(it hit me like a ton of bricks once i saw Trendon's # posted that i had an opening. I asked my assistant for a favor, she went along with it wonderfully)
****This is a rough reinactment****
Trendon: 'Hello'
My assistant: 'Hi Mr. Lynch? This is Nivian from Senator Nelson's office, i have the Senator on line to speak with you, please hold as i patch him thru'
Trendon: 'Ok'
my assitant puts call thru to me
Me: 'Senator Nelson'
Trendon: 'Hello sir'
Me: 'Is this Mr Lynch?'
Trendon: 'Yes, yes it is'
Me: 'I wanted to let you know that i did, in fact, read your letter and i appreciate the concerns'
(to Trendon's credit he went right into his schpeel as if he had known the Senator for years)
Trendon: 'Well ya know, i'm just fed up with everything going on in Washington and up here in NY nothing ever gets done'
Me: (i cut him off) 'Yes, you're from NY, i was wondering about that.
Trendon: Yes, i am. I must have emailed you previously about something to be on your mailing list.
Me: 'Ahh, i see. Well, i just wanted to make it clear that i have read your letter and to be honest, i agree with most of what you said... outside of the name calling, of course.'
chuckles exchanged
Trendon: 'Yeah I tend to get pretty riled up, i apologize for my tone. It's just that nothing gets done around here and i'm sick of it. We shouldn't be having this conversation, ya know... there is NO REASON for us to even be speaking right now.'
Me: 'Yes, i understand completely and i agree. I just wanted to let you know i appreciate your letter and your opinion has been heard and i'll pass it along.'
Trendon: I really appreciate you taking the time to call me, stuff like this really means alot... ya know, just taking a couple seconds out of your day to call me means the world to me and i'm going to let everyone know about it.'
Me: 'Well thank you and i look forward to ending this as soon as possible. Thanks for your time.'
Trendon: 'Thank you sir.'
(Trendon runs to post in the other thread that the Senator called him)
