Well, that's what I'm saying. Even if 90% of these are taken out of context (suspect was acting foolish, creative timing on camera, slanted coverage, etc) then even with that, we still have a massive, massive problem.
there is certainly a problem and there are certainly bad cops.
but i'd say it has more to do with access to information via camera phones/twitter than it does some massive explosion in corrupt cops. if i was to guess, i'd say that cops are vastly less corrupt today than they were say 30-50 years ago when they had no checks and balances. and i'd say there will be even less corruption over the next 15 years. this information boom is just like turning the lights on at the end of a long night at the bar, you get to see whats really going on. HGH, corrupt cops, scam charities, lazy politicians, cracked out celebrities, etc isn't anything new we just have a great equalizer now with the internet
you put a spotlight on any job and especially ones that are in toxic situations and the chances are you're going to find real shitty people fucking over other people.
where i'm on your side tho is that police officers shouldn't be held at the same standard as other job given their responsibilities. but like nick said, they are mostly making 50-80k and its tough to find a balance between being lenient to cops who have minor fuck ups and simply letting them act negligent.
