In other words how to to tell your router to put the connection in the "Demilitarized Zone" and not fuck with any of the data.
The below is borrowed from Lytzesout's post on the old boards.
1. type 192.168.1.1 in address bar of your internet browser - a box should come up (some older routers its 192.168.2.1. - either way, you'll see the brand of your router pop up if you get it - ie - linksys)
2. in password type admin (or type in your username and password for your router) - should take you to a screen in my case Linksys with several tabs
3. click on gaming and app
4. Click on DMZ
5. Click so that it is Enabled
6. Change your IP address last set of digits to 250 ("192.168.1.250")

10. write down subnet mask, default gateway, dhcp, and dns servers - u will need these #s for the PS3
11. ip for the PS3 will be 192.168.1.250
12. Turn on PS3 and go to internet connection settings
13. Select Wireless or Wired
14. Tab over on WLAN Settings
15. Tab over on SSID
16. Tab over until u get to security
17. Select what ever you have for security if you have any
18. Tab past key
19. Select Custom

fyi, u cant really "mess anything up" if you're afraid you'll f up your settings or router.
Hold the reset button in the back of the router in for 30 seconds and it will retrun all settings to default if you get stuck and cant get it working.
