Re: Random Discussions
My understanding is that ISIS formed with help from Al-Qaeda when we finishing up in Iraq. But ISIS grew too greedy under the leadership of Al-Zaqawari (sp?), who was eventually killed by the U.S. and Al-Qaeda eventually severed ties (no pun intended).

I saw a video that we, in a twisted sort of way, helped build ISIS just like we helped build Al Queda/Bin Laden?

Isis was officially formed as who they are today in January 2014. They were an offshoot of Al Queda of Iraq bit AQI distanced themselves saying Isis was too violent. Which doesn't make much sense to me.
Again.. my take... I believe Al-Qaeda was trying to build their numbers under a larger scope and ISIS started running off and slaughtering sections of people that Al-Qaeda was interested in bringing. Less strategy, more rampaging bull.

I think it is extremely likely that were did because we thought Assad, Syrian president, was the greater threat. I do believe these countries needs a harsh dictator to keep the masses in line, but they over step when they kill their people in masses. We as a civilized nation can't stand for the genocide, bit if it keeps the fighting "in house" is it really that bad for us? It comes down to our own morale dilemma as to whether we go in or leave it be.Cnasty wrote:I saw a video that we, in a twisted sort of way, helped build ISIS just like we helped build Al Queda/Bin Laden?

Where is the stereotype?nick wrote:holy moly George and his stereotypes.
We had no problems when Hussein was in charge, we never had to deal with Libya when Ghadaffi (spelling?) was in charge, never had problems with Syria with Assad in charge.
This region is a hotbed to breed terrorists, if they have a horrible dictator there then the terrorist would rather fight them rather than try to attack Americans. Don't use Afghanistan as an example, they never had a dictator.

I'm sure its not official that we helped them, like helping the Taliban against the big bear.shel311 wrote:When was that that we assisted them?GeorgesGoons wrote:I think it is extremely likely that were did because we thought Assad, Syrian president, was the greater threat.Cnasty wrote:I saw a video that we, in a twisted sort of way, helped build ISIS just like we helped build Al Queda/Bin Laden?

There was speculation on both Fox News and CNN some months back (back when there were reports that Assad used chemical weapons against his own people) that we should (or possibly have) arm the groups fighting Assad. I'm sure we arm terrorist if we think it'll help our agenda against a particular country.

I would say using a John Stewart clip doesn't emphasize your point.
If you only follow one news outlet you are never getting the whole story. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, etc. all have their own agenda and reports the facts that support their agenda while leaving out other facts that doesn't support their agenda. If you watch the news then watch and read every outlet you can so you can form your own opinion.

Malaysia Airlines has provoked a storm of controversy by asking customers to list the things they would most like to do before they die.
The airline, which lost two planes this year in disasters that claimed 537 lives, committed the marketing gaffe when it launched a "My Ultimate Bucket List" campaign on Monday.
