NDL PS3 Themes

[NCAA Dynasty League]

After the most recent upgrade of the PS3 software, themes were added where you could change the look of your PS3 from the main dashboard.

After playing around some, I made one for NDL just to see how the process went, and figured I would spread it to all others.

If you make any, send me a link to a zip file, and can get it available for others along with pictues in a list below.

To install themes, you need to place the .p3t file in the following directory on your flash drive / ipod / etc:

PS3/THEME

Once saved to your storage device, plug it into the PS3 and go to Theme Settings, and click Install at the top, and click your device on the menu that pops up. Then you will just go back to Theme Settings and apply the theme.

Easiest way to make your own: (Need Photoshop / image edit software)
Edit the following files: (all 128x128 PNG files)

Icons.6.png | Icons.35.png | Icons.1.png | Icons.16.png | Icons.38.png | Icons.39.png | Icons.18.png | [PS Network Icon - not editable] | Icons.9.png

Those images are the main menu items across the top of the screen. In the nc state theme, I had:
G | O | [WOLF IMAGE] | P | A | C | K | [psnetwork] | [ncsu logo]
in place of those images. You basically get 7 images together, and one by itself as your main menus.

a_HD.jpg | a_SD.jpg | b_HD.jpg | b_SD.jpg | c_HD.jpg | c_SD.jpg are the background images. _HD images are 1920x1080 pixels and the _SD images are 640x480 pixels. I save a,b,c as the same image, think it may change images based on time of day, but not sure what the letter distinction is for.

If anyone wants to make their own custom theme, but doesnt understand how to turn it into the p3t file, edit images to go in for:

Icons.6.png | Icons.35.png | Icons.1.png | Icons.16.png | Icons.38.png | Icons.39.png | Icons.18.png | Icons.9.png | a_HD.jpg | a_SD.jpg | b_HD.jpg | b_SD.jpg | c_HD.jpg | c_SD.jpg

and send me the zip file with those in it, I can compile it for you and upload the finished product.

that original post was made over 2 years ago, then moved over when the old board crashed. They came out with a program that makes it really easy to make one if you have the time to go in and make the changes. Its all dones in a user interface thats really easy to use.

i dont think so, the one that is out now has a nice user interface, its all done on screen, do not have to do any coding type stuff. I made one with it for the one that I have now on my ps3, and its almost a drag and drop type thing now, instead of having to rename images, and type some coding together

Hmm, any chance u can link the site to get the program for us ? Id like to try this out, Gettin sick of these lame Themes on PSN. I also like how they have Premium Avatars listed but says none available when u clikc on it, Those are gettin old as well. PSN needs to step it up. That last update that made everything look grey n cheap was stupid, wish it could go back to the original look

All you need is a USB flash drive. If you don't have one, you can get one dirt cheap.

Instructions for retards (like Shel)

Plug USB drive into your computer
Create a "PS3" folder (all caps)
Inside the PS3 folder, create a "THEME" folder (all caps)

Find a theme you like and download it to your THEME folder

Take USB out of computer and plug it into the PS3

Go to the Themes section on your PS3
Click Install
Click on your USB device
You will then see the theme at the bottom
Click Apply
Laugh at Shel for being a dipshit
Done

I used the newest release of the Theme builder and made this Colts theme. There are 6 different backgrounds and a set of blue and black icons to match the backgrounds. It's really not that hard once you figure out what you're doing. You just have to be careful about using the correct image sizes and formats. You can add sounds too but most of the custom themes with sounds just end up being annoying.

I also made a Sunny theme. This one has four different backgrounds and the faces of the cast, including the McPoyles, for the home row icons. I didn’t mess with the secondary icons. They’ll just revert to the default PS3 ones. I gave serious thought to adding some quotes for menu sounds but eventually decided not to. I might go back and do it later.
