Chain Plays
Chain Plays
So I was searching NCAA on google for something or other and it said that chain sympol in the corner of the play screen means something. I guess if you keep selecting plays that have that symbol it makes the play better or something, anyone actually use this?!?! does it work?? Do the plays instantly become money plays?

Re: Chain Plays
To my understanding it is usually a run type play and then a PA play that are "chain linked" to each other. When you successfully run the running play a few times a green chain will come up next to the PA version of that play. It means you should be able to fool the opposing team into biting on the run play.

Re: Chain Plays
You'll see them referenced as either "linked" plays or "setup" plays. When you run the associated running play a few times, or successfully 1 time, then the attached passing play is supposed to be more successful. (Safeties bite in more I guess?) You'll get strategy points for successfully executing the linked play.

Re: Chain Plays
They aren't necessarily PA plays either. A couple I can think of off the bat are the jet plays linked with the HB dive off the fake to the WR etc. Of course the PA plays are linked to them too, but sometimes just have the motions without PA or the plays that are similar in action are linked. Then the play gets "Setup" and I think the teams awareness is heightened or something like that.

Lol, so you don't like gaining strategy points? Do you not like user picks either? User Tackles? User Sacks?brett11253 wrote:yea. I've seen the setup thing. but strategy points kill anything for me. cant do it
The first year of strategy points made people think that it was cheese to earn them. It has been toned down a little and I don't think many use the adjustments anymore.

getting them for "play the pass" or for "crashing the line" or turning all your setting on "agressive" is what people frowned upon. I dont anyone every complained about user picks

Re: Chain Plays
I was thinking along this line as well. I see a lot of people commenting about strategy points and being cheesy. But it seems to be that you're going to get strategy points for doing somethings that aren't cheesy, such as the user picks, sacks, etc. I personally wouldn't think that using a linked play would be cheesy, You've executed a few plays successfully and are baiting your opponent into falling for the linked play. Sounds like good game planning strategy to me.cougnix wrote:Lol, so you don't like gaining strategy points? Do you not like user picks either? User Tackles? User Sacks?brett11253 wrote:yea. Of course this is easy for me to say since my team can't get any one for fall for any thing....
Edit: Oh yeah. I see your post brett. You're right. Skill points not strategy points...duh

Re: Chain Plays
User picks = Skill Points
Play the Pass = Strategy Points
Kicking on 4th = Sportsmanship Points
Generally speaking, strategy points are frowned upon... but you can get them for some basic things.

Re: Chain Plays
I don't mind seeing strategy points for guys using linked plays. It's pretty rare though, because if it's off of a PA pass, you're risking a big time sack and if the other player is user controlling the safety, it's not very helpful anyway.

Re: Chain Plays
My favorite one was against UNT. Like less than 20 seconds left in the game, up by 7. He's driving down the field and I intercept the ball. I'm thinking to myself, "Self...this guy will fumble if he gets tackled. Oh! I know! Let's do that diving slide like my QB...."brett11253 wrote:yea I got hit with that once. and he picked it up and returned it for a td. sooooo pissedUuaww wrote:followed by a fumble... which has happened to me twice mid hurdle.ajalves wrote:mine too.....i pick one and do 2 "hurdles" and a "spin"Uuaww wrote:I swear after every INT i've gotten my guy "leaps" with the ball because I press triangle 3 seconds too late.ajalves wrote:
