I wish I could muster the passion for one of my EA rants. :P

The game has seen some improvements. The tackling engine is some of the best work EA has done. However, the pretty paint job doesn't hide some glaring holes under the hood.

The online coding is asinine. Year after year of the exact same P2P connections and they still can't hold a connection.

The defensive engine is full of gimmicks. Once you really look at how the players are reacting you can easily tell it's just gimmicks instead of solid AI. In some cases, the DBs will even ghost thru the WRs to make plays. The DBs turning as soon as the ball is thrown is just another gimmick. It's apparent that they just can't find a legitimate solution to balancing the offense and defense to make the game play realistic.

What makes it worse for all of us that enjoy online play is that the online part of the game seems to be dying. I counted 40 people in the lobbies the other day. That isn't encouraging EA to put a lot into the online stuff. Which is obvious by the lack of a patch to fix the connection problems.

I put that on the fact that online dynasty has taken the place of just hitting up the lobbies and the quick match finder is so much better. Another thing that keeps me out of lobbies is the spamming and the interface is crap compared to PS2. I liked the system that had the little lightning bolt or whatever it was that indicating a challenge, having to back out through the PS menu, into the messages is lame. And on top top of that, I REALLY hate that I can't click on someone's name and see statistics about their gameplay. It used to be easy to find the d-bags just by looking at that.

I've seen guys do it for years and it's lame.
Got a video of this? It sounds to me like you're saying it's lame to adjust the wr to a directional pass, to make the catch. And if that's the case, I call those stick skills, not lame. We have the same ability to user switch to the db and go get the ball too.

No, this isn't a "led" pass, it's just a lob where the user controlled WR is trying to confuse the AI defender who, at that point, no longer plays the man, he simply plays where the ball is going to come down. This is akin to jetpacking.

Ok, so basically a super-shitty lob, where the WR and DB actually have time to stop and the guy user controls the wr, back and forth to jump and get it? That I've seen. I've seen the pass thrown accidentally, in which case, I say go try to get it... and I've seen it intentionally, which was lame. Agreed.

This and on out routes the DB's suddenly make up a 3-4 yard separation in one step and deflect or intercept the pass.
