i don't follow.ajalves wrote:saying paul's good because he doesnt turn the ball over isl ike saying Jeter is a gold glove SS
Paul is near the tops in the league in assists and still doesn't turn the ball over. its not as if he's not attempting passes to boost his A/T%.

Re: NBA 2012-2013 Thread
to be honest, i dont get it either.ajalves wrote:i'll give you a few to think about itshel311 wrote:And we've reached the point where you've lost meajalves wrote:saying paul's good because he doesnt turn the ball over isl ike saying Jeter is a gold glove SS
Jeter gets gold glove bc most managers still use archaic fielding metrics when analyzing defense. some i'm sure allow personal preference to make an impact in their voting as well.
how does that have anything to do with an objective measure like the amount of turnovers Chris Paul makes?

Re: NBA 2012-2013 Thread
and i never said Chris Paul was good because he doesn't turn the ball over.
i said he's good because:
-- he's an elite passer
-- he doesn't turn the ball over
-- he's an elite defender
-- he shoots around 50% for a guard which is absurd
-- he doesn't miss free throws
and the list goes on.

WEll, everyone always talks about how Jeter isn't that good defensively.ajalves wrote:i'll give you a few to think about itshel311 wrote:And we've reached the point where you've lost meajalves wrote:saying paul's good because he doesnt turn the ball over isl ike saying Jeter is a gold glove SS
But in terms of turning the ball over, Paul is good at that(or not doing that), so i don't follow the logic.
Re: NBA 2012-2013 Thread
havent i already said he was good?
wtf are we even talking about here?
i dont agree that rondo isnt top 5 when you're going to probably say someone overrated like Darron Williams is.

What does that have to do with the Jeter comment? LOL.ajalves wrote:havent i already said he was good?![]()

You've beyond lost me at this point. You're talking Jeter, then when I answer, you're not talking about Jeter. Then you're building a strawman argument with Dwill.
I'm more lost than Jack and Kate right now.
Re: NBA 2012-2013 Thread
you said there is times where you'd take Rondo over him.... thats the discussion now.

So, you're not going to explain the Jeter/Gold Glove comparison?ajalves wrote:im trying to care about this, i just really dont. Get a more interesting topic and ill get involved on the opposite side

paul is pretty vanilla...so's jeter....jeter might not have as many errors as some younger guy who gets to more balls.

Re: NBA 2012-2013 Thread
I honest to baby jesus have no clue what that has to do with Paul not turning the ball over much.
Re: NBA 2012-2013 Thread
its just not a good comparison. i get what you're saying, its just not good. Jeter has limited range which causes him to be vanilla, there is nothing that 'limits' Paul and makes him play the way he does.
each play has a +/- to it. if you turn the ball over than its obviously -, if you can create a basket its obviously +. how can he be vanilla if he can put up more + than - and do so in a way that no other player in the league (other than Lebron) can.
would you like him more if he was more flashy and put up more -'s? i mean, thats basically saying you'd rather have Kobe than Lebron. thats the same argument there. Kobe can do more 'flashy' things, but he just doesn't do them efficiently.

it has to do with how i'd take rondo over paul depending on my roster

I actually see the comparison now... Both things make no sense

Re: NBA 2012-2013 Thread
Give me Paul over Rondo no matter who is on my roster.ajalves wrote:shel311 wrote:I honest to baby jesus have no clue what that has to do with Paul not turning the ball over much.
