Not directly... But him kicking line drives is essentially putting it in the game, minus the punter running sideways to kick it.

I dont know if it was my controller or what but I found directing punts after the snap to be very hard this year. So props to these candidates for the skill this year.

I actually like to tap the arrow up just a notch for more air and put it close to the corner so worst case you step out of bounds or you're close to the sideline so you don't have the the field to play. But if that's considered cheap too I apologize.

nothing wrong with that at all. That's because its a risk/reward on a return. line drive punts cant be returned and yardage can be controlled specifically.'

the flip side is just kicking it out of bounds, which is also fine IMO, since directing where you want it to go is a challenge. you might pin a guy, you also might punt it 15 yards

i hear what you're saying AJ and its a good point butin my mind (even tho i agree with you), i don't give an eff about risk reward... its just lame to kick a line drive EVERY time you punt. just dumb.

i like a guy who'll mix in stupid shit. i'd rather a guy fake a punt vs me in a big situation than line drive punt everytime.

Not sure why they eliminated the two man back punt return (pretty sure they had it in last years game). Was a good way to play against the line drive

6ftdeep wrote:the last few seasons I will admit I didn't find any issues with it because, because there was a return formation that had 2 guys back at each sideline and they would get to the punt in the air, and you then could get a nice 15 yard return.

This year though they removed that return formation, and there is almost no way to get over to the punt now, not to mention it is almost impossible at times to pick a ball up off the turf.

So I went back to the old tried and true punt tactic if you don't what a return, kick the ball up really high.
Really the only way you can return it now is by calling a Quarters 3 Deep defense. It's incredibly lame however that you should be forced to call an actual defense just to return a punt because the other guy won't kick it normally.

Line drive punt is damn near impossible to return. I know what you mean by the "rugby style" Punting, but the opposing team knows it's coming, and the returner will go for the ball, here unless you user him and get lucky you go the right way, you are screwed, and even then it's hard to see anything. I DID get lucky though and returned a punt for a win basically this year on a line drive punter....it was the best feeling ever.

I actually think it was USC and SheaShea haha.
Season 25 NCAA - New Mexico Lobos 5-7
Season 26 NCAA - Arizona Wildcats 11- 3 (Pac 12 Champions, Rose Bowl Champions)
Season 1 Madden - Seattle Seahawks 12-4 NFC Champoinship game (lost)
Season 27 NCAA - Texas Longhorns 9-4 (Alamo Bowl champs vs USC)

I don't do line drive punts. I kick the ball out of bounds normal punt style.

With a punter in the conversation, I don't find what bearass claims as laim. If it's a normal punt and he's coffin cornering it, then I tip my hat.

Agreed. Never seen Bearass line drive a punt. (And for the record I agree with AJ, hate seeing the line drive punts. With that said, I did see it this Season. I damn near returned the punt too. :) Six makes a good point too. And Whit, your trying to bring real life punting into the video world. I see what your saying real life, but video game wise we all agree.

Just my two cents.

Yeah I understand that, and i'm not trying to defend it like I do it all the time, but if the game didn't want you to do it they wouldn't let you even have the option to take that little arrow and put it as low as it goes. But I guess thats the same as those plays that are banned in the NDL for taking advantage of the AI, they are there but are banned for that reason. So actually I just un-validated my own point. Carry on... :(
