Going to be a horrible night it seems for me... none of my players seem to be clicking while Wall, who I tried like crazy to fit in my lineup, is going bonkers.

Dave - DFS sounds like it's still being propped up right now by financial backing. FD/DK are dominating the market and breaking in and securing the user base is a massive task for most. I'm sure that if Chase follows this thread, he could chime in on it. For instance, the site that I linked you guys a few pages back, while technically not a DFS site, is operating a huge loss right now while it tries to build up a user base. They are literally giving away money this season in hopes of building a long term base. So consider this... I marketed a site that is free, that doesn't ask for your financial information, to a group of 7-8 people that are following this thread... out of those 7-8, I don't believe that more than 1 person went to the site and tried it. Yes that's a small sample size, but it is a glimpse into the what it takes to get going. Here's another one... Chase was giving away shit left and right on MLF for beta users, how many NDLers got in on that for more than 1 week? While it seems easy, it's far from it. New sites are popping up weekly and it's a tough break. (I just got a free $30 offer for a site like Skyllzone, called Victiv?)

i wasn't talking about creating a start up.

i'm talking about already established sites.

for example, stock trading went from 2% per trades with guys like me to $250 type commissions with mid tier boutique shops to 50 dollars with discount shops to 9.99 now with etrade type sites. now within the next 5 years you'll be able to find free stock trading on sites.

people with less money always want to pay less fees, people with more want to find the best and let them charge whatever they want. people with less money also love shorter time frames (Think day trading stocks vs longer term trend trading or even buy and hold type strategies).

with this style of OCD, low income type crowd that DFS draw too, i could see a 2nd tier site just chopping their rakes in half to get a bigger audience. its almost a shock they haven't already. there are so many ways to make money now that charging fees or juice it's almost the most honest way to do it but the least likely that companies actually do.

I think it's going to happen at some point. There was a user (Luckbox) who went on a 1 man war path about rake in DFS. It did cause DS to pull down their rake on GPPs and FD/DK lowered their rake on games over $50. But you're certainly right, at some point, it's going to be in the 1% range. Right now, the sites are justifying the 8% (on average I believe) rake with their bonus programs that are just disguised rakeback programs. When you get a deposit bonus on most sites, it is released at a 4% give back or so, which doesn't even offset the rake on the games. Until the sites can sustain w/o the large bonuses (which FD nearly does), the drop in rake may not happen.

DRiccio21 wrote:make sure you're looking thru the guys and not just basing it totally off the Basketballmonster #'s.

for example, Alec Burks is projected for like 24.4 or something. he hasn't scored that in like 7 straight games. not saying he's an 'awful play' given his price but he'll always be considered good value on basketball monster until they lower his inputs.
Not throwing this in your face at all but I like going back to what we talked about all day and learn a little here and there. I didnt start Burks as I went cheap on Sefolosha to get Jackson and Jrue but Burks had a nice little game of and beat the projection by about 3 points.

BM was pretty close on most of the guys I had in the early lineup but glad I made some changes to drop Horford and Jeff Green.

1000 a month!!! with compounding interest you'll be a bazillionaire in no time.

fwiw, i still don't get your point. i said i play the smaller games too, i said you can win money. its just not 'easy' and shouldn't be looked at as 'easy'. its a very dangerous and reckless way to talk about money. and typically done by people who have never made money.

fwiw x2 i'm like 45-0 over the last 2 nights. i'm not complaining.

it literally means nothing.

i play 1 lineup and play 50/50's and a couple random H2H

i spread out 100 bucks over 20 or so small games. so in reality i'm 2-0
