He held it a long time. Shields was totally justified IMO. Weak punch though, if you're gonna throw one after the bell, go big.GeorgesGoons wrote:Just saw that as well.autiger730 wrote:In more exciting news.....the Diaz bros. have been banned from all WSOF events after their involvement in a brawl in the casino lobby.
I'm gonna have to download the Shields fight to see how long pulhares held the Kimura and see the punch after the bell from shields

Mighty Mouse calling fans "fucking idiots"
More reason for me not to be a fan of him. He is by far the most technical fighter out there, but he is just boring to watch.

I don't think Johnson is boring at all... I really appreciate his ability. It's not like he's Just leaning on the fence like old Jon Fitch, or he's going with lay-n-pray. He's smoking these guys with great standup and octagon control... it's impressive imo.

I think if they brought the octagon in a little it would help. It's fine for the big guys, but the lower divisions and women have too much space. You could bing it in like a foot and a half or two feet and it would make all the fights more exciting.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
He is "boring" because he is so much more on another level compared to everyone he is fighting. He is Lebron playing against JV kids. Most fans don't like him because he does nothing to hype his fights up, same can be said for the UFC too. His fights are always an after thought, probably shouldn't be headlining a fight due to his (and UFC) inability to sell out an arena or get PPV buys.autiger730 wrote:ReignOnU wrote:I don't think Johnson is boring at all... Him and Rhonda are stuck right now in a place every champion would envy. They are both so dominant that they destroy everyone they face and make their opponents look like amateurs. The UFC should really focus on those two weight divisions 2 of the next 3 TUFs to help bring in some talent.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
TUF isn't bringing them any talent that is going to touch that level. The MMA landscape has changed tremendously since TUF 1-4.
I think the reality is that the 125 division was a mistake. There isn't a deep enough talent pool to draw from that American's are really going to get behind it. There are a couple of decent guys (Cejudo for instance) on the way, but no real threats to DJ. Personally, I'd like to see them scrap 125. Do a title eliminator between the winner of TJ/Cruz (Barao is a non-factor since he got beat 2x) vs. DJ. Then mix them. 135 has a good amount of talent and has the opportunity to be a very exciting division with guys like Sterling and Almeida on the way up.

I think you are on point with bringing talent that goes to that type of talent level but there are some guys that are going to be good (ranked in the top 10 type guys). I still think we need to bring in young guys at 125/135/145, don't even invite anyone over 28 years old at those weights.ReignOnU wrote:TUF isn't bringing them any talent that is going to touch that level. TUF 13:
Tony Ferguson
TUF 14:
TJ Dillashaw
John Dodson
Dennis Bermudez - there were talks of him possibly fighting for the belt when he went on his run. 2 straight losses took him out of the top 10
TUF 15:
Myles Jury
James Vick
Al Iaquinta
Michael Chiesa - We'll see where he is at when he fights Jim Miller in December
TUF 16:
Neil Magny
TUF 17:
Kelvin Gastelum - his only loss is a split decision to Tyron Woodley
TUF 18:
Chris Holdsworth - Can be a force at 135. Comes from a great camp as well
Don't really think any of the women will amount to much, maybe Rocky Pennington
TUF 19:
Corey Anderson - young and still growing as a fighter

I'm not jumping to that conclusion. He looked good, but to be fair, he was fighting a tomato can.ReignOnU wrote:Sage Northcutt is legit. Future champ.

Northcut is going to be a beast. That front flip at the end of the interview was crazy.
UFC needs to get rid of the 125lb division. I feel like I am watching 2 really really really fast 8 year olds slap fighting inside a cage. I cannot remember one fight in the division where it truly impressed me.
Bader has hit another level as of late. Everything really looks like it is clicking for him. He needs to get the next title fight and then Jon Jones can come claim his belt when that is done.
Main Event was amazing. DC looked like he was 36 years old in this fight. His cardio didn't seem to be where it usually is. I would not have been upset if the Mauler had won. I had it 3 rounds to 2 for DC but there were 2 rounds that I thought could have gone either way.

I really want a smaller cage. It would benefit the smaller guys and hopefully cut down on the ability to run away from the fight. Gustafson ran nearly a mile in that fight. I'm not exaggerating. They flashed the distance traveled in the 4th (I think it was the 4th), and he was well over 4,000 feet.

Bader's striking has grown a ton. Him and Phil Davis used to have very similar issues with their striking being way too stiff. They looked like poorly lubricated robots. Now he's throwing some legit heat and it looks a lot more fluid. Well done on his part. (Davis looks a bit better too, though I think he's a touch behind Bader right now)

Wow... just now watching the main event card from last night... that finish in the Almieda fight was ridiculous.
