Re: 2016 Presidential Election
Everything about this election says historical low voter turn out. And then you look at it from the other side and can see historically high voter turn out so the other candidate doesn't get elected. Going to be interesting come Tuesday.
Dropped off the ballots yesterday for the wife and I. We both agree that something is completely wrong with this country that we are left with these two candidates.

You are truly fooling yourself if you think that. I don't think we'll see a 3rd party candidate get more than 25% of the vote in our lifetime.shel311 wrote:There are more than 2 candidates.GeorgesGoons wrote:We both agree that something is completely wrong with this country that we are left with these two candidates.

Don't be responsible for keeping the corrupt 2 party system we have going. Don't do it!GeorgesGoons wrote:You are truly fooling yourself if you think that

I know I'm just messing with you but I truly feel that anyone who votes D or R loses any shot at complaining about the shitty candidates, the shitty process, and all that good stuff. It just falls on deaf ears at that point.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
All this talk about how the black vote is down in early voting compared to the last 8 years really isn't news. If Democrats thought the black vote would turn out like they did for President Obama they are idiots. 2008 was a historic election, even 2012 the black vote was down in early voting (and I believe in the general election as well).

Perot was close. 19%. Gotta be the right guy. Not this year.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
I'm not excited for one 3rd party candidate, nor is 95% of the country. Unless a 3rd party candidate polls around 20% or higher you are wasting a vote by voting for them in my opinion. Too many people are sheep and will only vote for the 2 parties, and voting a 3rd party essentially becomes a wasted vote unless polling shows otherwise leading up to the general electionshel311 wrote:Don't be responsible for keeping the corrupt 2 party system we have going. We all can blame Ross Perot for the Clintons. Had he not ran that year we would have most likely gotten a 2nd term by Papa Bush and the Clintons may never have become who they are now and we might have some viable candidates this year.

But you're choosing to follow the sheep, thus becoming just another sheep, no?GeorgesGoons wrote: Too many people are sheep and will only vote for the 2 parties, and voting a 3rd party essentially becomes a wasted vote unless polling shows otherwise leading up to the general election
Especially since, and I'm assuming here, you don't really like and are super excited about either candidate. But you're following the herd in voting for 1 of them. Everyone takes that mentality and we end up with...Clinton and Trump, no?

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
I was talking about the polls leading up to it. If a 3rd party candidate doesnt get on the debate stage to talk about their policies they have ZERO chance of getting more than 10% of the vote, even with the 2 candidates we are left with this election. So this race is more about who you don't want to be president rather than who you want as president, IMO. So people need to be sheep this race because the 3rd party candidates have absolutely no chance whatsoever, all the 3rd party candidates combined will not get 10% of the popular vote.shel311 wrote:But you're choosing to follow the sheep, thus becoming just another sheep, no?GeorgesGoons wrote: Too many people are sheep and will only vote for the 2 parties, and voting a 3rd party essentially becomes a wasted vote unless polling shows otherwise leading up to the general election

That basically means you and others will just be a sheep every election, as a 3rd party will never get to 20% as long as people have the "be a sheep" mentality.GeorgesGoons wrote:So people need to be sheep this race because the 3rd party candidates have absolutely no chance whatsoever
Know how we can get a 3rd party to 20%? Not having the sheep mentality.

it's just a vicious cycle that we'll never come out of with that mindset IMO.

But it has to start before the general election. They need to poll higher leading up to the election otherwise people will feel they are wasting a vote.shel311 wrote:That basically means you and others will just be a sheep every election, as a 3rd party will never get to 20% as long as people have the "be a sheep" mentality.GeorgesGoons wrote:So people need to be sheep this race because the 3rd party candidates have absolutely no chance whatsoever

I'm assuming you are voting 3rd party, do you honestly feel your vote maters, and why it matters if you feel it does? Does your vote matter because it is blocking a particular candidate but you can't live with yourself to vote the candidate it helps?
Not trying to be a dickhead here just curious with the 3rd party voters and why they would "waste" a vote for someone that will not get 10% of the vote this cycle.

The third party candidates are awful this year too but I'll be voting for one of them. It's my protest against the two party system.

Gary Johnson is a loon. But I don't exactly have any more confidence in Hillary or Trump, so I'll stick with avoiding and protesting the 2 party system.

Your vote won't be any more valuable than mine.GeorgesGoons wrote:Not trying to be a dickhead here just curious with the 3rd party voters and why they would "waste" a vote for someone that will not get 10% of the vote this cycle.
It matters as much as any other person's 1 vote, of course.GeorgesGoons wrote:I'm assuming you are voting 3rd party, do you honestly feel your vote maters, and why it matters if you feel it does?

Actually depending g on the state my vote might mean more than yours. Are you registered in Texas, if so then I can understand the vote for 3rd party. Me being registered in Colorado my vote would be wasted on a 3rd party as this is a potential key battleground state and the election could be lost if this state goes one way or the other.shel311 wrote:Your vote won't be any more valuable than mine.GeorgesGoons wrote:Not trying to be a dickhead here just curious with the 3rd party voters and why they would "waste" a vote for someone that will not get 10% of the vote this cycle.
