Re: NFL Thread
Timing is everything. Even if he expressed those views before he should have just shut up, too many emotions going on nowacross the nation.

Re: NFL Thread
Oh, I agree. He showed a total lack of awareness in that he should have known saying that would poke the bear.
But logically speaking, there's really nothing wrong with saying that. It wasn't a HUGE deal when he said it in 2016. And at any point in the history of the world before 2016, saying that would be a non-issue entirely.

Re: NFL Thread
In the history of standing for the Anthem, it is known and understood that standing for the Anthem is done to show respect for the flag. Before 2016, no one would have disagreed with anything I just said.
So now the entire world has to change their view on what standing for the flag represents or their huge racists who just don't get it and don't care about black people?
Alright, good talks!!!

Re: NFL Thread
I know I'm speaking without knowing here, but it's more than likely fair to say that I'm sure those 3 players didn't call Brees before going to Twitter to subtweet and unfollow him.
So, in other words, instead of deciding to man up and call Brees and talk about that man to man, they decided to go the 8th grade girl gossip tantrum route with the subtweet/unfollow.

Re: NFL Thread
So that tweet confirms kneeling is done so to disresped the flag, so then, what's the problem?
Now we're canceling any American who says they respect the flag?
Like I said, people are losing their collective minds right now.

Re: NFL Thread
I've just went through a 20 min discussion in GroupMe with Pino, Chris (fsupenguin) and others about this. Timing was terrible, he should have dodged the question. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with his stance.

The whole flag argument is weak as fuck anyways.

Re: NFL Thread
I always find it odd when someone incorrectly says, and Lebron was the one who said it today, "people still don't get why Kaep kneeled, and it had absolutely nothing to do with disrespecting the flag..."
While not realizing that Kaep came out and said he was not going to show respect for the flag.

Re: NFL Thread
America has had 27!!! Different flags.
“ The current design of the U.S. flag is its 27th; the design of the flag has been modified officially 26 times since 1777. The 48-star flag was in effect for 47 years until the 49-star version became official on July 4, 1959. ”
So the flag they fought for in 1944 is diff than the one people salute today ...
Keep using the flag horseshit tho

Re: NFL Thread
Doing the kneeling during the anthem completely overshadowed his message. The counterargument is that he 'had to do something drastic to bring attention to the issue.' Fair enough, but this was the wrong choice.
What if he instead of kneeling during the anthem, he opted to take a knee on the first offensive play of every game? It would have been noticed. It certainly wouldn't have riled up nearly as many people as it did. You know what else may have happened... I could have seen a lot of players getting on board with that. Then you'd have had a very powerful message on live television. You wouldn't have had networks cutting away, etc.

Re: NFL Thread
Funny that one of the youngest guys on the Saints is the only one that can be logical and not act like an angry Twitter troll.
Marcus Davenport sums it up perfectly:
Good for him. The other dudes..well they've lost their minds.
Speaking of lost their minds. Dak Prescott announced he wanted to donate $1mil to police training to better handle situations in the future...the angry mob went after him for this too....lost their minds.
Marcus Davenport sums it up perfectly:
Points out he doesn't have to agree with Drew, but understands all of the nuances and greater point that Drew is obviously on their side.Drew wasn’t talking about the current protest, the riots or really anything besides HIS feelings on kneeling during the National Anthem. He even explained what they were, the basis and that he actually stands with us. Do we have to entirely agree with him, no

Salute your leaf and slurp your syrup. By the time your government is done making politically correct changes to your anthem, you'll have matched our number of flags. Who knows, maybe by then you'll even settle on using 1 language. Vous appartenez a la France!nick wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2020 8:07 pm America has had 27!!! Different flags.
