Oh for sure. I was only +4 on my second round. Sprinkled in a couple birdies here and there. Got an eagle on the third round, so it's definitely getting better.

These settings put a huge emphasis on being in the fairway. The unknown of what you get out of tall rough and sand traps makes you really think about every shot. Instead of just looking at where the blue arc is, you have to take everything into consideration... wind, lie, side lie angle, and elevation. I do like it, but that putting can be so hard sometimes.

Dave you're spot on with the TGC setup. Very organized and their website is really nice.

I gave the qualifying a shot as well. I’ve only played on those difficulty settings once when one of our majors in season 1 was set incorrectly. First round I shot +3 and the best round I shot was -10. Ended up at -17 I think. Takes a bit of time to remember all of the details that go into a shot like lie angle. Swing forgiveness when shaping shots or adding spin is another huge difference.

This is a good challenge to revisit between society events, but I do like the more casual/relaxing feel of the settings in our league. Could also consider adding a sim NDL society.

I need to know more about this. What simulator do you have? Are there instructions online to get 2k21 working with a simulator? Google search didn’t turn much up for me.

I had TGC 2019 installed with my Skytrak simulator... the amount of real life courses that have been developed for TGC is crazy.

https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... 141398&z=4

This obviously isn't every course out there, but it's a really good sample of what you'll find at a minimum. There's a whole side hustle for designers who are getting $300 - $1000 to create designs. Some golf courses are even paying them to do them for them, just to appease their local golfers that also have sims. (seems like a cut in revenue to me, but whatever)

Like reign, I use TGC 2019 as I think it's the most recent for sims. I have a Uneekor launch monitor running it. Couple buddies also have setups, very fun to play remote rounds together on the sim, drinking beers with zoom going on a side monitor

I also recently bought a year of GSPro, as one of my buddies uses it. Much less polished as it's a side hustle for a couple guys, but it's less expensive

I don't mind the % bar not being there until I get around the green, then the wheels fall off. Had a ton of 3 and 4 putts. Anything outside of 10 feet was almost impossible to make. Not sure how anyone can shoot under par like that.

I did read that in the Beer League, it's open to have the % bar, so maybe that's the route I need to go.
how exactly do you qualify?

I registered on their website, tgctours.com. There are step by step instructions in the "info, rule, and policies" link under info at the top of the page. But once you register you have to register to qualify under "qualifying", then go join their TGC Tours Challenge Circuit society. It automatically loads your scores from your rounds onto their website.

Currently on the qualifying leaderboard I am in last place with my +14. I won't be getting in this time around. I'll try again next week, and if I fail again, I'll just go join the Beer League.

there are like 20 different leagues of varying skills... you'll eventually get into one of them

also there is a promotion event this week in tgc special events. it basically lets anyone play and they rearrange the leagues to keep it balanced numbers wise. they do this every few months.

also the site keeps track of your historical stats and stuff. like last year i played the game a ton and think i was like top 150 at one point in all the leagues combined then this year i didn't really play much and i'm probably down closer to 1000. i forget to play rounds alot and you get demotion marks when you start but dont finish tournaments. the leagues are very well done, dive into the site, its pretty enjoyable. obviously the top guys are on a different planet talent wise, so winning isn't really a big goal... but making cuts and trying squeak out top 10s is fun

The Challenge Circuit is pretty deep. I've spent some time this morning looking at all the different divisions. It's pretty cool. Made me feel better when someone on the tour shot a +10 in round one. Also, I didn't shoot the worst score in round 1 anymore. I also like how it transfers your scorecard so I can look back at that, plus all the stats like fairways hit, GIR, etc. I'm glad I joined up.

After three rounds of qualifying were posted, I was sitting at 4th from last place. I tried to play some practice rounds with their setting to try and get the hang of it. Didn't get much better. So I decided to join the TGC Tours Beer League, and after 2 rounds played I'm sitting in 38th place. I'd say that's an improvement, and probably where I belong.

Played this the other day... shot a +17... on the front 9. If you need someone to be in last place all of the time to make you feel better about yourself, I'm your guy!

The game has a very steep learning curve when you start or when you play the more realistic settings. Just keep grinding out rounds and you’ll figure it out.

only changes i will probably make for now for Season 3:

- the lie plays a factor
- no blue line
- and it wont pick the right club for you

ie- you hit into the bunker and it says 75%-80% for your like and its 20 yards to the hole. the game will give you a lob wedge that at 100% gets you to the hole. due to the lie 'penalty' you'll need to club up. and hit a 24-25 yards club. With the new settings, you'll have to make that determination.

easy to get used to and brings a tad more 'randomness' to the game

stay tuned

After 2 rounds in the beer league, I really like those settings. You still have a % meter, and it suggests a club, but you still have to adjust for the lie, the wind, and the elevation.

Are you sticking w the power meter thing? I think that’s a big one you should consider removing. Especially for putting
