Tale of 2 rounds... missed 5 putts under 10' in that one. I'll try to get the 3rd round in late tonight. A lot of fun! Thanks for setting it up.

Re: PGA Tour 2k21
Added a daily league to supplement the NDL league. I tried to get as many over seas courses as possible. 2 rounds opened daily and a 4 round Major that lasts 4 days every 5th course.

That course had some crazy elevation changes. A lot of fun, and I like the settings. Emphasis on being in the fairway to make an easier shot into the green. Can't just rip driver on every hole anymore.

-8, -3, -3... I had at least 6 shots that I left out there on pure bonehead mistakes. I think I'm picking it up pretty well.
Love all of the after round tournament stats.

Re: PGA Tour 2k21
Is the only difference the accuracy of the swing meter/tempo? Or are there other things like putt previews, not having to factor certain elements? I'm not sure that I want to play on an easier mode at this point. I'm enjoying the challenge of figuring out the lie, wind, elevation and breaks in the green.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 6:13 pm Added a daily league to supplement the NDL league. I will see if I can change the settings. The idea behind the league was to just have some extra tournaments to play if you have time in between the NDL SocietyReignOnU wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 12:44 amIs the only difference the accuracy of the swing meter/tempo? Re: PGA Tour 2k21
Ultimately, I'm just trying to get to a place where I'm shooting -9 consistently with these settings. I think it's lofty, but that's my goal. That's -36 across 4 rounds, which is respectable and has a shot at making the cut in beer league.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 1:20 pm settings have been changed to Master for the Beer League
I also think it's attainable. Typically 4 par 5s on a course and those should be guaranteed birdies. So I need to birdie 5 out of the other 13, without a bogey... which should be doable as I get more consistent with my swing and shots around the green.

If I could ever figure out how to hit a pitch I'd be money. Only shot in the game I fuck up every single time which makes me doing flop and splash shots at times you would not really want to.

Reign did you sign up for the TGC Beer League? I really love the TGC Tours website. It’s well done.

Pitching is dumb unless you are at a distance where you can hit a 100% power shot. Otherwise splash shots are the way to go.

Re: PGA Tour 2k21
This is why the TGC thing just isn't for me.
The Beer League is the TGC league that's supposed to be for fun, easier. And you gotta shoot -9 each round to have a shot at the cut? That's just not my thing.
I just like more realism. I rather find settings that work for me and just do an offline PGA Tour, as boring as that can be.

Re: PGA Tour 2k21
I changed the settings too master's difficulty in the NDL beer league before I played my round today, but it was still pro-Am settings while playing. Hopefully the change happens for tonight's tournament

Re: PGA Tour 2k21
I did, first round was a dumpster fire. Hoping to get a little better this time around. I only played 2 of the 4 rounds in the last event, so it may not be on the leaderboard. Re: PGA Tour 2k21
This. The punishment for mishitting a non-full power pitch shot (over or under) is devastating. They don't elevate well either, so anything that has an immediate steep incline is a flop shot.sixpackdan101 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 2:28 pmPitching is dumb unless you are at a distance where you can hit a 100% power shot. Chips under 15' right now and splash shots for anything else under 40'. My only issue with splash shots is that they don't seem to penalize for the rough consistently. I'll hit a splash shot that I'd expect to land at 20' and it'll fly 25' or a bit more, so I'm often hitting low for backspin just in case.

AJ or Dan? What settings are you running on the NDL society? I'm trying to mirror them but Masters is definitely not what you have

Re: PGA Tour 2k21
I've got that set up as well. I'm using the beer league settings and have the difficulty set to "easy" scoring, which I think is about -3 to -5 per round. I'll bump that up as I improve.shel311 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 2:59 pmThis is why the TGC thing just isn't for me.

I looked through a lot of other societies (painstaking process because the server lags when pulling society info and most societies don't clearly list their settings). I found a few others that are consistently updated, but most have those guys shooting -10 or better per round.
One thing that is helpful is playing some of the quick online modes. I know it's boring for some to watch others play their shots, but it helped me understand where I was making things too complicated. Also, either 2k actually has good matchmaking (based on my NBA experience, no chance that this is true) or shooting Even to -5 per round isn't too bad. I've won more than I've lost in skins and 4 person quick matches.

Re: PGA Tour 2k21
Curious about everyone's approach to playing... are you "Bryson" or "Brooks?"
Bryson - The game is all about math. You calculate elevation, wind, lie, and green slope, making tiny adjustments for every factor, then hit your shot.
Brooks - You see the pin, you know your general distances, then you use shot shaping and general estimates to get the ball where you need it.

Re: PGA Tour 2k21
I'd say I'm more Bryson. I take all the factors into my shot decision, but I just don't bomb it as far as I can on every shot. I'll look at where the green is, or even the pin, and try to play to where I get the best angle into a green, or even trying to play to a flatter area of a fairway, even if it means a longer approach shot. The simpler the approach shot is, the closer to the pin you will be majority of the time. I also think like this in real life golf too, only I can't hit to my selected areas with much consistency. I'll tee off with an iron if it puts me at a spot to hit a full 9 iron or PW into the green.
