My 20 year old son said he wasn't a fan either.

Re: Random Discussions
I've been wondering recently if my kids are a bit soft. Growing up in the DFW burbs, living the good life. They're in 5th grade, last year of elementary so my concerns are more so when they go to school next year and are the youngest in middle school.
Well today, my one kid got in trouble for the 1st time in 6 years of school. Said he was playing soccer, and his team missed a PK and this one kid he doesn't like was yelling in face that he sucks and wouldn't stop, so he said he slapped the kid right across the face, and the kid ran to the teacher crying.
On the inside, I was proud of him lol. Don't get me wrong, that is not the way to respond, but it does alleviate some of my above concerns and he's not quite as soft as I thought he was. But there's a definite grounding coming his way, just trying to figure out how to weave into that punishment conversation that I'm happy he stood up for himself.
May be time to sign him up for some classes at the local boxing gym!

Will Smith would be proud.
6Pack and Dave would not be though.

Played some OOTP yesterday and thought of you guys. Next July... NCAA. How many owners do you think the league can realistically have? 131 seems like a longshot but it's not totally off the board.

Anyone here have Lasik surgery before?
I have considered it for years but always afraid it will wear off and I will have to go back and I wasted my investment. The older I get, the more annoyed I have become with glasses/contacts.
Plus I can get some nice cash back with some of the churning and insurance processes so really considering it more than ever.

I don't even like putting eye drops in, I couldn't imagine having a laser pointed at my eyeball

Definitely would be anxiety level raising but I heard they give you drugs and it’s over super fast.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 3:37 pm I don't even like putting eye drops in, I couldn't imagine having a laser pointed at my eyeball

It's pretty weird but you really don't feel anything, just feels mostly awkward but no pain.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 3:37 pm I don't even like putting eye drops in, I couldn't imagine having a laser pointed at my eyeball

So it’s my 10 year anniversary and my wife and I are going to this place in Tennessee called blackberry mountain. We’re on our flight today flying into Asheville and plane drops fast like crazy. I’ve flown a ton in my life and I know not to let turbulence scare me but this felt different. I saw our wings almost vertical and people were flying around the cabin getting thrown from one side to other.
5 minutes later… “Ladies and gentlemen, we apologize for that fast drop… air traffic informed us of an incoming plane and we needed to descend rapidly to prevent a collision… the other plane was not on radar and we apologize for the scary few moments there”
My wife nearly fainted… rest of flight was smooth and we get off, a little shook up but mostly fine.
In the airport I’m waiting near bathroom and the pilot comes walking over so I start bs’ng with him asking him how serious it was and he said the protection system planes have on them alerted them another plane was close but the other plane didn’t have it on and wasn’t on radar or communicating w air traffic control and when his alert came on he had to dive the plane down immediately. He said when he dropped the plane he saw the other plane fly above us and that it was less than 1000 ft away. He said he flies in traffic quite a bit but in his 20 years flying it was the closest he’s come and the other guy was flying a corporate private jet and just not following normal procedures and put everyone at risk.
Needless to say, I’m happy to be alive and I was a pretty calm flier my whole life but this kinda freaked me.

Whoa! I have flown more this past year then in my entire life combined and I still get a little anxious when that turbulence feels “different”.
I feel bad about the Swallowers joke now but all it tells you is that you were on my mind. <3

Re: Random Discussions
That’s what I’m afraid of. I heard newer technology and some other factors play into it as well.
Will go to the consultation and check it out.

Ive developed motion sickness as Ive aged, Id have probably lost my lunch with the rapid drop, let alone being considerably shook up. Glad to hear youre okay, thats wild. Air traffic is one of those things where I think ignorance is bliss, I imagine things get tight around the airports
Re: Random Discussions
You have to have a particular rx and condition for LASIK, Ive always wanted to get it but have an astigmatism which makes me a less than ideal candidate.
Downside of LASIK: Youll likely need readers, and may be dependent on eye drops afterwards for the dry eye

Re: Random Discussions
I didn't really have any issues or pain or sensitivity to light after I did it.
They recommend not doing itit before your 25. I got it at like 22. I think it's mostly gone back to what it was before but still a bit better.
