Memphis likely to vacate 2008 season

Jsence, your compliance lady has quite the task on her hands.

Coach Cal is the ONLY coach in NCAA basketbally history to have vacate TWO full seasons.

Good luck Kentucky. Just hope one of those championships coming in the next 5 years isn't the season that is next to be vacated.

imagine being in a profession where you can make it to your pinnacle only to have found out TWICE that you cheated to get there and then still get one of the most high profile jobs in the country where you need to speak of integrity to childrens parents and families in an effort for them to send their kids to you.

systems broke jusssssttttt a little.

excellent point. i guess i was living in an idealistic world for a moment there.

on the same note, i'm sure Memphis is happy to give up the mythical records and such for the revenues and exposure the school recieved due to his cheating

You are a baseball fan, you can't see the forest for the trees. Nah, just fucking with you. Dave, we've all listened to me go nuts about colleges countless times over. Shit like this isn't a different problem; this is an offshoot of how useless college is.

The only people who truly give a shit about the prestige of a university are the child's parents and only when their meet their neighbors' at the edge of the driveway or whilst out to dinner with Mr. & Mrs. Muffethouse.

The kids don't: just a young-age home where responsibility isn't 100% needed yet.
The professors don't: they are tenured and haven't had to alter their lesson plan in decades
The politicians don't: college is the easiest way to get taxpayer money out of the lemmings
The admins don't: They are nothing more than polits themselves

Nobody gives a fuck. As soon as we drop the romantic love of the secondary educational system, we will see these situations with clearer eyes and understand that Calipairi is no different than anyone else in the industry.

Shel, explain to me again how any of this is Coach Cal's fault?

Rose's SAT score: that is the fault of the NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE--their sole fucking purpose is to CLEAR KIDS FOR ELIGIBILITY!!!

The free travel: something that happens often (families traveling) and then they REPAY THE SCHOOL!!! This is the AD's accountant's fault, not Coach Cal!

Do me a favor, please contact all the journalists reporting the same things, let them know how much smarter than them you are. Because they must be "complete fools", too.

Reggie Rose paid for some of his flights--which means it wasn't a deal where they are saying, "Hey, we're going to fly you for free."

The NCAA Clearinghouse CLEARED Rose. What part of that do you not get? And you want to call ME a fool?

If you wanna sit there and rip coaches--and not just go on a Calipari-bash-fest--then do me a favor: look up Coach Krymeariver and Corey Maggette. Then you tell me how what you THINK Calipari did is worse than what Krymeariver ACTUALLY DID.

Here, I'll even give you some HELP: http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entr ... 6/16724605

Another really good article that you ALL should read (and it comes from Jay Bilas, who has ripped UK's hiring of Calipari like nobody else) about not rushing to judgement--and about the NCAA's ability to be judge, jury, and executioner without even having to prove ANYTHING. You will need ESPN Insider to read it: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/insider/ ... id=4227055
The NCAA rule book is gigantic, and it is impossible to properly interpret. One basketball program I know uses an interesting system to determine what to do with regard to the NCAA’s archaic rules. When there is a question about an interpretation, three members of the staff separately call the NCAA for an answer. Invariably, there are three different interpretations provided by the NCAA, and the staff then chooses the interpretation it likes the best.
The NCAA is ill-equipped to gather facts and properly adjudicate these matters, and the process is incredibly unfair to those alleged to have violated the rules. As the system works now, you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent. The NCAA does not make its allegations public, and does not comment on investigations, yet the institutions are expected to air everything publicly when accused of rules violations, investigate themselves, and penalize themselves before the NCAA has to do it. While there is an allegation pending, the NCAA rules mandate that any player with a cloud will not compete until that cloud is affirmatively proven to be untrue.
There is no burden of proof for the NCAA to satisfy when it makes allegations. None. The NCAA is investigator, prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner. The NCAA is allowed to believe or disbelieve anyone involved in the process, and is allowed to consider or disregard whatever evidence it likes, no matter how unreliable it might be. It is a stacked and unfair process; there are legitimate ethical questions at every step.

But none of it will matter as many of you are simply wanting to bash the man because he's at UK, while Coach K and Roy Williams--who have been PROVEN to know that they were using players who should have been ineligible--get a free pass. It wreaks of hypocrisy and hate.

Change the name of the school, and he's the first one wishing for the death penalty.

And you are all full of hate, says the man who wants Brett Favre to break his leg.

How?

How am I being a homer? Just because he's the coach at UK??? He's not being IMPLICATED!!!

If you can tell me that the NCAA Clearinghouse is not responsible for clearing players for eligibility, then I will admit I am wrong. Until then, this isn't an issue of being a "homer". You can play the fucking "homer" card all you want, it is an easy way out of admitting that you don't LIKE him and not even touching on the fact that Coach K got away with a lot of shit with Maggette and NOBODY wants to talk about that.

And it has nothing to do with him being UK's coach. I don't sit here and say "Pete Carroll should be hung by the NCAA for the Reggie Bush ALLEGATIONS". I don't know all the facts, and the NCAA is not implicating either man in wrong-doing. If he does something at UK, then trust me--I don't care if he wins 10 titles in 10 years, I'll want him out the door. Cheating is cheating, and it doesn't make it ok simply because it's my team!

(And I don't hate Brett Favre; I want him gone so ESPN will stop sucking his balls, which is half the reason he keeps doing this crap!)

Coach C was in charge of 2 programs that were involved with cheating.

He was in charge of the program, and when you are in charge of the program weather you do something illegal or not the kids fall under your leadership. Therefore he was involved. He knew something about this the whole time and you cant say he did not.

If this was a one time thing ok I would agree.

This has happen at 2 schools.

Quit bringing up your maggette shit because you sound like a fucking woman.

We are talking about Memphis and calaparii and how these programs that he leaves then get hit with violations.

Being a Christan you really should open up your eyes. If you cant your a fucking moron. Calaparii is always one step ahead. He is a great coach who I would love to have but you have to say you are worried about the guys character. If not there is no hope for you in life with anything because you are blinded by one sides story and you have no depth at all.
