Do you think only the people that have tested positive for it has the virus? With increased testing the death rate will go down. New York is an example of how those numbers go down with increased testing. That is basic math.nick wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 12:34 pmat no point did I say the USA was at 4%. I dont understand why you think as a Canadian, at the core I give a fuck abotu America other to inform you people about being more prepared.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 12:32 pmYou like throwing out worst case scenarios so I like to offset the doom and gloom. We aren't at 4% or whatever you said it was.nick wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 12:11 pmlol as long as you know thats best case scenario (and not 1 single person dies).. then ya man its lowering. You guys beat Corona!!GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 11:15 am As New York tests more the death rate is dropping. They are at ~0.007% now (157 deaths and 20875 cases)
4% is in the world.. And that means if everyone recovered now (which wont happen). I dont get why you cant fathom basic math![]()

I forget who it was, but someone said something last night about people like George
if this blows over, people like George will go "see told u it was nothinggg".. not realizing how every gov in the world went through extreme measures to contain this
or it doesnt blow over and fucks up a large portion of the population..

I'm not saying it's nothing. I'm saying it's not as dire as it's being made out to be. People should not be losing their jobs over this, small businesses should not have to close up shop because of this. I'm sure you were touting having some government backed or state backed job so you are good to go. Not everyone has that. What about the service industry workers that can no longer pay bills or buy food because everything is closing down.nick wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 12:46 pm I forget who it was, but someone said something last night about people like George

If you are a vulnerable person, shelter in place. If you know someone that is vulnerable don't be an ass and expose them to you if you are going out.

In fairness, there absolutely is a number, probably not a direct or exact number, but there is a number of "acceptable" deaths that would or should be allowed in order to not completely tank the economy.
That's pretty standard across many businesses, not just this or any virus.
The issue here is the unknown of where the # of deaths will stop at...we just have no idea.

Re: COVID-19
Never said death was the deciding factor. I said if the politicians/doctors/media wants this to be as dire as it's being made out to be then something financially needs to be done so people can actually stay in doors and away from people. A $3000 check isn't going to cut it. Being given money isn't going to cut it, it has to be a pause on bills so people do not feel like they have to be out and about so they can provide for their family. That would be the first step for people to take it serious, if something like that doesn't happen this will continue to be spread till they find a vaccine/cure for it.

Re: COVID-19
Like I said from the start.. this is gonna increase medical advancements ten fold which will be a great thing. Gotta figure more $$ being invested in medicine going forward.

And this is very non-republican of me. But non-essential products shouldn't be sold right now, especially if they give people money. It should be for food/gasGeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 1:05 pmNever said death was the deciding factor. We've reached the "ANYONE WHO DOESN'T THINK THIS VIRUS IS AS BAD AS I DO SHOULD DIE FROM IT!!!" stage of this discussion, so we have that going for us.

We should have a George-like poll.
Do you think it is as bad as the media/government are making it out to be?
Yes
No
Go!

Re: COVID-19
When this all started the DOW was around 30K right? It's down to 19k now. How much lower do you think it goes before drastic measures are done to ensure our economy doesn't collapse?shel311 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 1:04 pmIn fairness, there absolutely is a number, probably not a direct or exact number, but there is a number of "acceptable" deaths that would or should be allowed in order to not completely tank the economy.
