Smart man
McCaffrey as well.
I am starting to see a trend here.
I mean I dont blame the guys playing in meaningless exhibition games versus the playoff type bowl games.
in reality, if you know you're a sure fire 1st rounder, you should skip it whether its the ordinary bowl, or the playoffs IMO
Didn't some ND guy last year or the year before blow out his knee and was considered a top 10ish pick and slipped to the 2nd or 3rd round because of this type scenario? I would assume that probably lost tens of millions possibly.
As long as everyone else is getting paid in dollars and not the players, I'm all for it. Sun Bowl, CFP, skip an entire season. I can't blame any player for doing any of that.
problem is very few guys know if they are guaranteed first rounders. some guys really want to continue to up their stock to move into that top 10 category, etc. in reality there would probably only be a couple guys per year doing it in games that mattered.
for the other bowl games, i don't know why anyone plays in them. most pointless thing in all of sports. other than gamblers, who actually watches that stuff, why risk injury whether you're going pro or not?

Got a text from a coach. "If some coaches can skip bowls to get ready for their next job, how can anyone fault Fournette or McCaffrey??"

If you're not going pro, you don't really have any leverage to just skip it.

My 2 cents-- if you ripped Tom Herman for leaving Houston before the Vegas Bowl, I'm cool with you ripping Fournette/McCaffrey. If not, *zip it emoticon*
