I guess if he is formally being traded then he didn't have much control. I assumed he opted out and could super team choice it up like all the other super stars.

With that being said if he signs long term then he has no one to blame but himself. :)

1. He did have all of the control. He told LAC he was opting out and going to HOU. LAC changed it up to get something out of it, and Paul worked with them and opted in to make that happen.

2. Assuming he opted out completely, where was this better landing place? Spurs is the only possibility but as I said, this happening today possibly means that the Spurs route was a no go.

We don't know how fast it went down and if SA had an opportunity and also if he signs long term does that mean there was no opportunity next year either for sure?

Right, we don't know. But earlier you said he "certainly did" have better options. But we don't actually know if they were feasible.

If he signs long term, then yea, he could potentially be turning down a better situation next season.

I haven't seen much, I think one blurb about Paul being open to talking extension with HOU.

SA is a better option than Houston for sure. if thats the argument. and i think SA could of paid a similar price to LA to get him there

I do not understand how this would work, I feel like Harden needs the ball in his hands 24/7

So does Kyrie Irving, there's enough to go around for the usage rates of Paul and Harden to make it work.

Both are actually unselfish players honestly. I think they'll be fine.

there is no issue with them meshing offensively. there is plenty of ball to go around with the 2 of them. the rest of the roster are off the ball players. Harden basically did everything for that team last year in terms of the handling the ball and then a little Lou Williams off the bench. Now they will stagger the two of them most of the game and the beginning and ends of half they'll be fine playing together.

the issues I see involve Paul not taking mid range jumpers since he's the mid range king and that won't fly in Houston unless they change for him. I read that he takes more mid range attempts per game than the entire Rockets team did last year. the other issue is how Harden handles the first ripping CP gives him for not playing defense.

They should consider letting him do his thing. First, he's good at it. Second, there was lots of talk about how the Spurs were effective playing them defensively by selling out on the 3pt line with the big just waiting in the paint, effectively giving the all the mid range jumpers they wanted but overplaying the 3 and the bigs not stepping out to meet Harden and other players.

It was pretty interesting to see and an argument to be made for a few more jumpers, maybe going completely away from the midrange game may not be the best idea.

I guess thinking about it James Harden is such an outstanding shooter it could work with him playing off the ball a lot more. Hardens Driving ability tho would be taken away at times I think. They also just got rid of a first team all NBA defensive Team guy and I know Harden is terrible on that end of the court.

i'm gonna throw on my conspiracy cap here.

CP3 opts out. then decides to opt back in to facilitate the deal... why would he want to help the Clips? maybe cause he knows if he leaves then Blake and maybe Jordan will also be gone and then the Clippers roster will be totally depleted and next offseason they can resign CP3 and Lebron and the rest of the banana boat boys.

That's fair. The Rockets have NeNe as well right? He's pretty solid as well. Gonna be a lot of threes going up in Houston next year.

I figured HOU would have to clear even more space if he opted out, something they may not have been able to pull off if they couldn't move Ryan Anderson's contract.

Also, by opting out, doesn't he lose that mega payday that he just concocted for older players as the CBA president?

But who cares, Team Banana Boat is in line to all be free agents after next season as of right now. It's happening!!!
