i'm hoping the Heat stay flexible and sign a few vets on 1 yr deals if possible then try to hit a hr next offseason since there is nothing left. Deng would be a mistake. Ariza i wouldn't mind.
Maybe sign Mo Williams and Emeka Okafor to 1 yr deals if they can by overpaying for that 1 yr but keeping the flexibility.
the one thing that sucks is that the Heat don't control their 1st rounder next season to the Cavs (Top 10 protected but they shouldn't be in lottery with Bosh/Wade). so they don't have a ton to be creative with in terms of trades.
Whoa... am I misunderstanding this... Ariza > Deng?

based on PER, Ariza is better. plus wouldnt Deng want a longer term/money?

is Wade even a lock to go back to Miami? Chicago just got Pau and def look better than Miami does at this point, plus he gets to go home.

Just a matter of hours until Carmelo Anthony informs the Knicks of his return on a five-year deal

i don't think they are much different and i don't think either are worth what they are going to make, but if i had to pick one based on what i think they would do in the next 3 years i'd prefer Ariza.
Deng is less efficient and has had much more usage in his career, so his raw numbers look more impressive and has been on the down slide the past few years.
Ariza has had far less usage, last year was his best year and his eFG% is almost 10 points higher than Deng last season and while it could have been an anomaly season he also might have reached his prime at 28. he was really freaking good last year.
Deng is also from Duke.

i'd actually prefer Mike Dunleavy or someone like that for much cheaper

I'll immediately concede based on the Duke factor.
For some reason, when I watch Trevor Ariza play, I cringe. No idea why it is, but he seems like he's just on the court... existing. Not really doing anything.

the big thing on Deng is 'he's a good defender'.
the metrics don't really say he's anything special, but being a part of Chicago defensive 1st atmosphere he got alot of credit (i think he was 2nd team all defensive). i'm not saying he's not a capable wing defender, i'm just not sure on an island he's as great without the Chicago system.
and given the issues he'd cause with spacing having Wade and Deng at the 2 and 3, i could see the offense really stalling in Miami with him. it makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Pretty ridiculous... if Love joins the Cavs, he'll be the 3rd oldest member on the team... at 25! Varejao turns 32 in Sept and Lebron turns 30 this winter.

To me it's more crazy to think that LeBron is already going to be 30.

Lebron's deal will be 1 year with a player option for year 2, it appears.

for sure...
its also interesting that Durant is a free agent in 2016 as well.
also interesting he signed for 2 yrs 42 mil... which i think is what Wade opted out of... which is still the craziest/most untalked about part of this story. i almost can't fathom it

Ariza to Houston
i'm kind of hoping the Heat miss out on Deng at this point but i get the feeling he's taking his talents to South Beach

No chance durant leaves OKC IMO. He screams 1 team player. The amount that he's in that community is great

Not necessarily, he is more of a team player than you think. Unfortunately with Westbrook on the team he has to manufacture and take a bunch of shots so Westbrook wont take all of them. He plays well off the ball and can shoot on the turn with the best of them. He is hungry to win and if he opportunity comes to play with LBJ he would do it.

I said he's a 1 team player. Like a jeter. That's all. Not on court team player. Which I'm sure he is

My bad. Misunderstood. But since he's not from the area I still see him making a move. OKC isn't championship level and he is starving for one. Right situation will pry him away.
