Radio station reporting that Cornell posted (or tweeted):

"I am the shape of the hole inside your heart"

This was posted some time after his show last night and it's a verse from one of his songs

Likely suicide reported by Pitchfork. Police told New York Times a man matching the birthday of Cornell was found dead in his bathroom floor at the hotel with a band around his neck but would not confirm name.

I feared it was this. He has been clean and sober, career going great. You just never know what is going through a persons mind. Happens a lot in this profession but usually drug related, I don't think that will be the case here. To write such deep and great lyrics they likely experience the pain of them much stronger than the normal person and it leads to things like this, just my thoughts.

Last song he performed per CNN was Zeps " in my time of dying". Fucking hell. Only thing worse would have been Pretty Noose.

I saw Chris Cornell perform acoustically only 18 months ago. A guy sitting next to me in the front row was wearing sunglasses. Chris walks onto the stage, also wearing sunglasses, and says, "there's a guy sitting up front wearing sunglasses. I'm glad I'm not the only douchebag here". The guy yells out "I'm blind", which should have been a dead giveaway by the cane he had in his lap. Chris was unbelievably embarrassed and very humbly apologised, saying "sorry, I was wrong, I'm definitely the only douchebag here". After the show (which was one of the greatest vocal performances I've ever heard in my life) Chris gave the guy one of the vinyl records he used during the set and apologised personally to him.

The article I read said the group of hunters stumbled upon elephants mating in a clearing and the elephants charged. That makes it even better.
