its crazy what loyalty and desperation will get you. Wade is a what, 50 game max player now? I understand hes still solid but hes half a year worth of production for 17 mil.. holy moly

Crazy that he sacrficed $8mil for a decent team who has no shot at winning a title.

Let me play devil's advocate here.... Miami has a pretty legit team IF everything comes together. Wade is 32 and a top 5 player when he's on. While he takes a lot of crap, he played 69 games in 2013 and was in the 70s the 3yrs before. If I had to bet, I'd say he plays >65 this year. Deng is an above average player and not selfish at all. Granger is 31 and had a horrible injury, which right before it, he was playing at pretty high level. Bosh, imo, is now one of the more underrated stars in the game. That's 6'4, 6'9, 6'9, and 6'11, that can each play 2 positions. This allows them to fit well with Cole/Napier or McRoberts/Anderson. It's a big if, but if they get 70 games from Wade and 70 games from a reenergized Granger, they are a top 4 team in the East.

Oh I agree, I'd slot them right around that 4-6 spot in the East...but they still have no shot at a title IMO.

I'm really surprised that they got Wade to take the 2 year deal.

Probably played on that idea of 1 last pay day when the tv contract comes in.

True, but risky given his decline.

I know statistically he hasn't declined, but he really has lost a step, it's so obvious. Now he may be able to mask that like he did all season and against Indy, but he'll also have to play more games to get value on the court for that deal.

Wade could lose 2 more steps and still be a top 20 player in the league. $17m is probably on par with where he belongs, assuming he's not in street cloths. It's not like we're talking about Joe Johnson here.

I agree on $17 mil, but not if he's playing 54 games a season.

I think there's too much put into Wade's lack of games last season. If he was needed, I think he could have played in about 70-74. The other games he didn't play because the team really didn't need him to play. Having Lebron and Bosh was a nice luxury. I don't think you'll be seeing Wade take a bunch of 'maintenance' days this coming season.

100% reign.

I am fine with the price and think its ideal for Miami he signed for 2 years. I just don't get who is advising Wade... unless he was assured when the new tv contract comes he will be made whole on a new deal then from what he opted out of. but that's still awful business at the risk he can't play in 3 years at all.

This has got to be so much fun for these guys.

They have basically turned the NBA into a rec league where they control who plays where and friends turning down millions of dollars to play with their besties. Guys deciding to take less money to go play at home. Just fun stuff.

Been an enjoyable few days for sure. Kudos to Dirk and doing things the right way for another shot at a title which he wont see.

I'd be interested to know what the owners REALLY think about it. Concern over balance, or laugh all the way to the bank

"@SherwoodStrauss: The Heat lost LeBron, are still paying Miller to help LeBron in Cleveland, owe Cleveland their 1st rounder"
Cavs are so lucky right now.

NBA considering a mid season tournament in Vegas (sort of like how soccer does)
