I think he said something about raising taxes on exports to Mexico to cover it?

I could be way off there.

If he is able to get them to pay it comes on the back end. Easiest way is any money getting wired from the states to Mexico gets an additional tax levied on it, then the Mexican government has no say in the matter

Once again, reading comprehension got you today. It's a tax on any money leaving the states and going to Mexico, that's how he can get "Mexico" to pay for it

To make good on his promise to put America first, Donald Trump’s weapon of choice is imposing (or threatening) stiff tariffs on nations he deems to have an unfair advantage. His biggest targets are China and Mexico, but he also threatens to punish U.S. companies that send jobs overseas by hitting their goods with a tax when they send goods into the U.S. His broad authority to impose tariffs may explain why companies have been quick to withdraw plans to expand factories in Mexico. Steep tariffs would raise costs for U.S. companies that import goods, increasing the attractiveness of producing in the U.S. The problem is that tariffs would also raise prices for American consumers, especially if other nations retaliate by imposing tariffs of their own -- leading to a global trade war like the one that began at the start of the Great Depression

Trump wants to put a 20% tax on things imported from Mexico and that money will supposedly go to pay for the wall.

What he is going to do is tax countries like Mexico and China and force American companies to want to make the products here again instead of going overseas.
Not saying it will be a bad thing, but will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Donald Trump's Great Wall on Mexican border will damage environment in 'insane act of self-sabotage' - Making the cement needed for a 1,000-mile concrete wall would emit nearly two million tons of carbon dioxide and cut off endangered animals from part of their territory

Article that explains how Obama paved the way specifically for the 7 nation ban list, but no one cared because it wasn't Trump...

Exactly. And they don't mention the 6 month ban on Iraqi immigrants Obama passed in 2011. They also don't tell you that Obama, Biden and Clinton all voted for the border wall while they were in the Senate.
