Is this just an training exercise or something to take to the course? It seems like you'd lose that 'ground force' that I was speaking of by changing the point of contact.

Thanks for the tips, I'll give it a stab and see how it goes this week and then try to update on it next weekend.

It just aids in shifting your weight. It is part of my normal swing. You don't have to do it but it does work if done correctly. Just make sure you keep your head behind the ball when you swing.
As far as "ground force", you should always hit down into the ball and let the club head do the work. The only clubs you hit on a flat plane are your driver and fairway woods. If you've been "scooping" your ball then your ball is too forward in your stance. A good divot is usually a good sign, as long as you are hitting ball first. Even with your long irons (1,2,3) you should be scuffing the ground after contact.
sixpackdan gave the best advice which is to take lessons.

I only read the first page and was surprised that I didnt see the two best tips out there.

1. Golf with 2 friends your equal and one that is just better than you three

2. Bring A LOT of beer.

other than that, my old man told me the 3 rules to getting better is:

Keep your head down
Keep your head down
Keep your stupid mother fucking head down!!!

So a while back I was layed off from a sales jobs and said screw sales, I hate it anyway and went back to school. I am going into a medical field and needed to complete some entry level science courses to go along with my bachelors so I could enter the program I wanted. Anyway, I had to do a science fair project for a class this semester and since I love golf, I decided to do a project about golf. It was on golf ball balance and how it effects putting. I was very surprised on the results. I made a pendulum putting device for consistent puts everytime and sure as shit, if you have an unbalanced ball and line it up with the heavier side right or left, it will roll to that side. In the badly balanced balls I found it would miss by over an inch on a 10ft putt and a balanced ball would go dead center on the same shot. I even tested a sleeve of calloway hx hots and some titleist balls and actually found some of them to be off balance. Makes me wonder how many putts I have missed in my life or for that matter made cuz the ball rolled to the left of right when it was unbalanced . You can test your balls by putting them in a salt water solution, the test can be seen on utube by searching golf ball science projects or golf ball balance. I did need to test around 30 balls before I could find 6 that were pretty bad, so that made me feel a bit better. The 2 worst I found were a Nitro and a srixon soft feel.

Surprised someone mentioned this, thats my #1 swing thought before every swing. You'd be surprised the difference it can make.

South side of Palos Verdes.

It is about 5 times what I'd normally pay for a course (well, 4-5 times), but playing it for $150 instead of $275 is pretty nice and it seems like it will be a cool, one-time experience.

Really just focusing on staying under 100. Shot an 86 last week at one of the local courses (with an awful 37 puts) but this course will be a serious challenge.

Got my first round in last weekend and plan on playing 3 more before my crew heads to the Pinehurst area to play Southern Pines (historical course built by David Ross, creator of Pinehurst #2), Foxfire East & West and then finishing up with Tobacco Road.

Everything I've read/seen on Tobacco Road is awesome.

Trump was an insane course. Miss the fairway by 5 yards left or right? Ball gone. In the fairway straight down the middle? Ball is 6 inches above or below your feet because of the rolling hills. In the rough around the green? Good luck finding your ball in the 5 inch deep grass, and if you find it, have fun hacking it out.

I would say it is an incredible course because it is incredibly demanding, but Trump isn't getting any more money from me any time soon. I put some good swings on the ball out there today and was punished by an unrelenting course.

Some shots of the course up on Facebook. I think link should work.

Up at 4:45 for golf this morning.

Tee time about 40 minutes from here, need to eat and shower, pick up a couple people and try to get there in time to hit a couple balls before teeing off.

Golf better reward me with a sub-85 today.

Caddied for John Peterson on Tuesday. He just won the NCAA Individual Championship and graduated from LSU. He's playing in the Nationwide event in Cbus this week and leads after round 1 (-7). Great dude and we had a blast on Tuesday. It's like playing the Tiger Woods game when caddying for him, just point and click and he does it.
