Espn stats
The Jets made an unprecedented play call to end their game vs the Raiders
There were 252 pass plays meeting this criteria the last 15 seasons:
•Final 15 seconds
•Down 4-8 points
•40+ yards to the end zone
They were the 1st defense to send 6+ pass rushers in ^ situation
They sent EIGHT
And Gregg Williams fired today

I mean that play call was indefensible. It made zero freaking sense being up 4. The more I read about it the crazier it seems. He should probably be out of the league.

Dude, they were up 4 with 10 seconds left and he brought 8 dudes when a Hail Mary was the only call. No, it was never going to be a genius play call lol.

Lost in the shit play call was also the DB falling for a double move by the WR, which is just inexplicable.

I just went to youtube and saw the highlights. Yea, that is crazy. The DB biting on the studder step is inexcusable as well.

couple things
1. Arizona just scored a hail mary TD like 2 weeks ago on a prevent defense
2. Gregg Williams isnt gonna lose on purpose. Hes gonna be fired regardless (he was)
3. People only flamed it cause it backfired. Had the Jets inept defense got to the QB with 1 extra blitzer and it was a duck, everyone would be making fun of LV today for losing.

As someone who got to watch 2 years of Williams as DC, this is pretty much par for the course. 1 minute you love his aggression, the next you can't believe WTF he's doing.

I don't care if all 8 blitzers simultaneously coverged on Carr and hit him so hard the Jets got 2 wins for it, it was still a horrible call, one that deservedly got him fired, and anyone who can't see that is an idiot.
Doing a stupid thing that happened to work out doesn't mean it wasn't dumb. I can start driving down residential streets going 95 mph and if I make it to my destination without running someone over, that fact doesn't make what I did a good idea.
