CC Sabathia was a big fattie when he played and now that he's retired he looks like this. Makes sense...

U.S. District Court judge Jed S. Rakoff ruled Friday that a letter from MLB to the Yankees concerning a 2017 investigation be unsealed.

The ruling was part of a $5 million class action case brought against MLB, the Astros, and the Red Sox by DraftKings players. It was already publicly known that the Yankees were fined as a result of that 2017 investigation, but it was believed to be for the improper use of a dugout phone. However, the plaintiffs in this case allege that MLB's investigation actually found a "more serious, sign-stealing scheme" and that the letter from MLB to the Yankees showed commissioner Rob Manfred's "duplicity." Both MLB and the Yankees are trying to keep the letter sealed from public view, with New York arguing that it's disclosure would result in "significant" damage to the team's reputation.

Was it even a good idea to do this if you’re bobby? Money depreciates and 1 mil 10 years ago is a lot more valuable than 1m today.

$1.2 million a year for playing baseball 20 years ago. And gets it until 2035. What retirement plan is better than that?

no one says he got extra money for doing this. he did (a friend told me).. which means its good.. but had he been owed say 20m and they deferred 1m over 20 yrs instead of paying him? thats mentally retarded.

"rather than pay Bonilla the $5.9 million he was still owed, the Mets offered to pay him $1.2 million a year every year from 2011 through 2036. The deal paid Bonilla eight percent interest."

see.. when ure owed 6m and they offer u 25m for it instead.. thats a deal.

Obviously things can go any which way when investing, but if he took the $5.9 in 2000 and didn't fuck it up, he likely would have come out ahead with the lump sum payment, but that won't stop me from making this post every year as I've done in the past and will do up until 2036

With how many athletes file for bankruptcy, this is a great deal for BB. He knows he'll be a millionaire every year if he blows thru it.

the good thing is hes not in a nursing home and hes not over 65 years old so hes statistically not gonna die or fuck his career up from it cause thats what George says. Although Freeman's wife is describing it as such.. "Freeman has “body aches, headaches, chills and a high fever.” She said “He is someone who literally never gets sick and this virus hit him like a ton of bricks,” she said. “We’ve been really strict for the last 4 months,” she wrote. “Haven’t gone to a grocery store, haven’t gone out to dinner once, haven’t seen our friends … and still got it.” She added, “Please take this virus seriously, wear a mask when in public and wash you hands frequently.”"
