remember when LSU won the matchup last year, and then in the rematch (for the title, with a couple weeks off), LSU couldnt get past the 50? nothing to do with layoff, Saban coulda worked on those adjustments in an hourshel311 wrote:7-6 bowl record, unlike any dominance we've ever seen before!!!Cnasty wrote:Saban is a master of the layoff planning
He's the best coach in all of sports, he'll always have the advantage if you give him 1 week or 4 weeks. But this "master" thing of the layoff for a bowl game, he loses bowl games here and there just like probably all other coaches. If he were truly some master, the bowl record would reflect that.

Re: 2012 College Football Thread
If he has this special ability to summon some sort of extra special coaching schemes in title games(thus, going 3-0), then why doesn't he use it in other bowl games? Does he want to go 4-6 in those other bowl games? Is 2-4 weeks to prepare not enough to unleash his special skill as it can only be done in 4-6 weeks?nick wrote:nothing to do with layoff, Saban coulda worked on those adjustments in an hour
Also, Les Miles is an idiot according to...everyone...so 2 weeks wasn't enough to come up with a gameplan to beat LSU in the regular season last year?

Re: 2012 College Football Thread
lol who gives a flying fuck about any other bowl but the BCS? Cmon man
add in he went 0-3 in like 1995 in bowls, and since the 10 bowl streak (2 yrs in the nfl) hes 7-3. 7-3 isnt impressive even when youre playing in the peach and independence bowl?
you argue for the sake of arguing lol.

is 7-3 worthy of being called the master of the layoff?
i don't want to misunderstand what you're saying here, so just to make sure, you're saying that Nick Saban didn't "give a flying fuck" about those other 10 bowl games?nick wrote:lol who gives a flying fuck about any other bowl but the BCS? Cmon man

The Irish have been picked to lose all season Michigan, Stanford, Oklahoma, USC and they find a way to win and that defense comes up with a big play when they need it. They will be picked to lose the NC game no matter who they face because it will be an SEC team. They have exceded my expectations for the year and its good to see they are back in the mix after a long drought.

amazing how little media coverage this has got.
Why should it? It means dick. I mean if a DIII team goes undefeated, do we get upset at media coverage of that?
you've been angry lately. smile fella.
In all honesty if they could play in the BCS NC..they wouldn't be there, I am SURE you all looked at their schedule..it is nothing special, it's a mid major schedule with how bad and down the Big 10 as a whole is this year, they didnt' play a single top 19 ranked team (that finished there) they didn't dominate their scheduel either, they woudln't jump ND or an SEC 1 loss team, and they aren't better than Oregon either. Them not losing a game is awesome though for the fanbase and the team in general, and its a great feat, it's a great feat at ANY level of football to not lose a game, it's tough to get through any schedule and do that. But even if could play, they wouldn't play in the NC, it would be ND and Bama..do I agree? Not a fat chance, it should be Oregon vs Bama and OSU vs ND if that were the case...1,2,3,4. But I mean..I wouldn't be suprised if ND pulls off the win, EVERYTHIGN, and I mean EVERYTHING went their way to ensure they would play in the chipper.

Re: 2012 College Football Thread
A one loss bcs team over an undefeated bcs team? There's the fat chance I would think. No matter where they're ranked the bcs adds a full point for a loss, right?

If I had a vote I'd have Oregon ahead of Georgia, so in the event that UGA were to beat Bama I would rank Oregon #2 and the Dawgs #3 still. This is mostly cause the beating Georgia took at South Carolina is still seared in my mind. Having said that, UGA vs ND would be the most interesting matchup I think, I just think that Saban defense if given all that time to prepare for the Irish will equal complete defensive domination.shel311 wrote:Oregon over ND? LSU was up there defensively.
But ever since about 2 minutes left against bama, our pass D has been missing lol.

Even if I agreed, all the prep time Saban will have I see greatly widening the gap between these teams. Not that ND won't prepare, but Saban has proven to be on another level in such situations.BFiVL wrote:Agree. There's certain people who I fully expect to get pissy simply because they disagree with me, didn't think you were one em. I gave you too much credit.

Also, he got that "title" from the media, you wanna believe everything the media tells you to believe?
