That is the question I cant find the answer to.trendon wrote:Or else what?
I'm guessing Mizzou will STILL have to eat at the kiddie table on Thanksgiving.
Seriously though, I think that if they dont pledge their allegiance to the BIG XII the offers from the PAC 10 will start to come and teams will start to jump the sinking ship. I think Texas will become an independent for a couple of years with their Longhorn Network providing enough money for them to sustain not being conference affiliated.

Re: Big 10 has supposedly made it's initial offers
I am actually extremely passionate about Nebraska athletics and generally find little fault in them; maybe because I am now 8-11 years older than all of the players. I liked it better when I was ten and they will twice my age.LetsGoPeay wrote:Same here. I still don't know why I continue to torture myself as an IU fan and all I can seem to do with the Colts is nitpick them to death.trendon wrote:You know what's funny? Aside from some unhealthy loves of certain athletes on my teams (Brodeur, Brady, Wright), I generally spend most of my day shitting all over my favorite teams and telling everyone how much I hate them and I wish I rooted for another team.shel311 wrote:He just stands up for what he believes in, unlike the rest of us!!!DRiccio21 wrote:jsence might be the most ridiculous homer of all time

I am so sick of this conference. Please Big Ten!!! Any time I see an article saying, "Oh, it might not be Nebraska, it might be Pitt or Rutgers" I want to fucking punch little children.GeorgesGoons wrote:That is the question I cant find the answer to.trendon wrote:Or else what?

Fixed it for you.trendon wrote: I want to fucking punch little retarded children.
I am the same way. I'm tired about hearing that Nebraska has only 1.8 million people and that they dont have a big enough TV population that would result in revenue for the conference. I would venture to say that there are just as many if not more LOYAL Nebraska fans than any other college football team out there. Call me a HOMER but when you can turn an away game into a "Sea of Red" at one of the most storied programs in history you definitely have a loyal following from all around the US.

leave them behind and dissolve the conference to join the Pac16.DRiccio21 wrote:they just said on sportscenter that Big 12 gave Nebraska and Mizzou a deadline of Friday to make a decision 'or else'

That's a pretty big deal if they're not sure they're gonna be in the Big Ten because they'll lose a ton of money...

Re: Big 10 has supposedly made it's initial offers
great post, George.
Baylor can't be a real player in this, as they are a parochial school, but if legislators can affect this being that Tech, aTm & Texas are all state schools then that report may be correct.
If Mizzou is gone for sure like the article says, then I would think a TCU or a Houston would come in and they'd move Oklahoma State to the north. I don't think Mizzou is going to have as much success in the Big Ten in basketball, but that's clearly not important because they should succeed in football with the spread against the Big Ten speed (or lack thereof)
...i'm starting to get really nervous about this crap

Re: Big 10 has supposedly made it's initial offers
Here is a really nice article on the Big 12 and the future of college football. Of course, it's all based on money. It's interesting that the current BCS system grosses 220 million of which 140 million is profit. A playoff system will gross close to 800 million with pure profits exceeding 700 million. It's not hard to look at those numbers and know exactly where we are heading.

Re: Big 10 has supposedly made it's initial offers
??????????????? Dude, one week ago the invite was all set to go to Boise. But, one week ago, there wasn't a realistic chance of the Big 12 becoming the Big 4.DRiccio21 wrote:so Boise isn't going anywhere

MWC is looking at the fact that all of a sudden, they actually have a realistic chance of adding Kansas, Kansas State, and either Colorado or Baylor. Or, we could not add anyone, and with the death of the Big 12, MWC automically becomes one of the six BSC leagues. So, the presidents actually got smart for once and said hey, lets see if we can get one of these schools before we commit to Boise. So all that's happened really is that the presidents are holding off for a week or so on BSU.
Very very good chance we will know by this Friday if those Big 12 schools will seriously consider the Pac-10 or say no way. IF they tell the Pac-10 no, then MWC goes ahead with the invite. Either way, I promise you we have an answer on the Boise ? by June 30, since they have to tell the WAC by July 1 if they plan on leaving.
Of course, now the rumor is that the WAC is going to give Boise an ultimatium, if they haven't done so already.

Re: Big 10 has supposedly made it's initial offers
here's where Dave should say "so what" to the WAC ultimatum if that's really what's going to happen, but i would venture to say that it might be better for Boise to be independent the only problem is they're not getting NBC

Re: Big 10 has supposedly made it's initial offers
Boise doesn't have an option to remain independent. Remember, Notre Dame is in the Big East for every other sport, the Wac or any other conference would not give Boise, or any school that option.VeniVediV1ci wrote:here's where Dave should say "so what" to the WAC ultimatum if that's really what's going to happen, but i would venture to say that it might be better for Boise to be independent the only problem is they're not getting NBC
I can't find the WAC ultimatum online, only thing I've seen is one reporter's opinion of the commissioner's statement - "Listened to WAC commish Karl Benson. Sounded depressed, like it was a matter of time before Boise State left. Even sounded a little bitter. "

you're right, I was sworn to secrecy though on the Pac-16 possibilityDRiccio21 wrote:i was busting your balls mtwasik

Actually, keep this quiet, in a few days, the Big East is going to announce plans to add Michigan, Ohio State, North Carolina, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Southern Cal, UCLA, Oregon, and Arizona ... it's going to be called the Big Motherfucking Big-Ass Conference
