fuck it... its annoying but thats their tradition
i hope they keep it... hosting a game gives you the right to express your culture to the world, thats part of it no matter how little or annoying it is.

I agree with ya Dave, it's like having Miami host the Super Bowl and not having Micheal Irvin being accused of rape.....It just wouldn't be right.

I would pay good money to be at every fucking WC game that is ever played for the rest of my life even if every person there had one of these.
The WC to me is one of a kind. I don't care much for soccer but I have watched every match, its just a unique thing to watch.

First, I am reading that this whole "vevuzela is South African culture" is actually a bunch of hogwash. Even if that were true, just because South Africa is host, doesn't mean they should get to annoy the piss out of everyone and cover up the cultural expressions of other fans from around the world.
It's like inviting friends over to your house and playing Pig Destroyer at 100db while everyone's trying to make dinner conversation. What they're not getting is that their "cultural expression" is lowering everyone's opinion of them during a time when this World Cup is supposed to show how great they've become. Shit, my opinion of South Africa has gone way down due to those frigging things. What the hell kind of idiot people get together by the thousands and blow a monotone horn for two hours? Sort of makes one understand why the British put them in concentration camps.
South Africa seems to enjoy doing things in the name of "culture" that manages to unify the rest of the world in hatred. As I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't expect to see 55,000 bagpipes in the stands for a Scotland match.

Wow! The underdog of underdogs, New Zealand gets a goal in the last 30 seconds of stoppage time to salvage a tie with Slovakia. This group is now completely anyone's to win even though is Italy is the obvious favorite.

Back home now and looking for a service like MLB.TV or whatever to watch these games; any leads? ESPN3.com does not work here.

I have no idea why I repeatedly forget about that website. That is probably the tenth time someone reminded me about the website.

What a shit first half from Portugal and Ivory Coast. I expected more from those two teams. At least Portugal's unis are awesome. I loved Alexi Lalas' assessment of Cristiano Ronaldo, "Stop being such a baby!" Truer words haven't been spoken.

"If Ronaldo feels contact, he's going to go down. Maybe even a puff of wind."
