We lost power last night for 4 hours...not that it compares to staying in an Amtrak, and granted it only got down to 54 in the house, but with a 7 month old, it was getting scary...luckily we have a down comforter on the bed and he slept with us to stay warm.
It was out from 3 AM to 7 AM.

Thank god for a new house, double pane windows, and great insulation!

Got into the 30s last and didnt even have to turn the heat on.

That is scary stuff though with a little one Niddler.

No.

The house use to have a gas fireplace but was removed the year before we bought the house.

We have a gas stove, but unfortunately it needs electricity to run the stove.
We can turn the burners on top on if we really needed to, those work by lighting them with a lighter like you use on a grill when your electric starter is not working.

I borrowed a friend's generator last time it went out in the spring, but usually we don't have issues.
I may have to look into a generator now.
At least a 3000 watt one so we can run a 1500 watt heater and my saltwater reef aquarium to keep everything alive.

Cleveland broke a record with -11 this morning actual temp, not wind chill.
Previous record was -7 set in 1884.

Crazy stuff.

And Corey, no biggie about laughing, we have power and are warm and everything is good.

I just feel bad, there are still over 10,000's of people without gas, which means no heat, since 9 PM last night.
They are on the west side of Cleveland in North Ridgeville and Elyria areas.

in Buffalo?
Pretty sure I've never seen the temps and wind chills in this region get this low. But then again, when the temps get this low, you really can't tell much of a difference between -10 and -20... It's all just fucking cold.

Got a call from my wife this morning telling me the car broke down on the freeway. Says she saw green slash yellow fluid leaking from the passenger side of the engine. Fantastic!

if Day After Tomorrow has taught me anything, it's to run to a stove when the flag pole freezes. Also huge waves dont mean shit to a library
