i was trying to cheat the system by publicly putting players in my short A team (i put a cheat code in so nobody could see those guys). I've managed my system the same way for every season I've been involved.
MOST GUYS DON'T EVEN MANAGE THEIR MINORS.
if Trendon is so worried about the impact on other players development, maybe we should look at the flip side of it.
im not saying you did anything. im just curious about its possible outcomes

Ramifications? Menial to somewhat impactful.
- He is evading and gaming the Rule 5 Draft or, at least, the need for it. He is so stocked up with ML talent (albeit, borderline talent) that nobody in their right mind would take them all. He might lose one here or there, but that's it. He gets to keep them down there and the fact that he is almost assuredly never calling these guys up negates any option worries. This is the most egregious and beats anything Gabe ever did.
- There are starting pitchers with seven years of major league experience rated in the mid-40's (playing in low-A in their thirties) that would be serviceable starters for at least twelve teams in this league. Again, why have the Rule 5 Draft at all? While you guys all deal with injury woes, Dave has a cadre of replacement level players ready to go and they aren't clogging up the AAA/AA ranks where he needs to see just how good they are against like competition.
- Morales would be higher on the team while others will be lowered after playing Portland.
- They will always resign for MLC's late in the current season.
- You can argue the really long straw of his teams are affecting our minor leaguer's health, specifically pitchers. I am not going to do the work, but I would bet opposing injury percentage is higher in games playing against Portland. Fielders have to play more and pitchers are put to their max.
And there are more smaller things that I missed because I need to get to work. All in all, this is laughable considering how Riccio has been the biggest pom-pom waver for "sim" and realism. I have taken several veiled and unveiled shots from him about my decision to institute draft pick trading (which, as you know, is actually "sim" now) and yet he has four fucking AAA teams, and some of the players are old players of mine that I felt were too old. Who knew I could just keep them?!

if you think any of that stuff i'm doing is the goal, you're out of your fucking mind. and i'm borderline offended in the most way I could be offended by you in a trivial video game.
you really think i'm trying to 'game the rule 5 draft' there are only 40 spots on your 40 man. I barely ever use any of these guys. they are sitting on free agency for ANYONE to pick up, they look good to me, I pick them up. i'd love to keep them all in my AAA team. but as you've mentioned that's not where veterans are supposed to be (the way OOTP works) if you want to get the proper growth in your prospects. if you remember, and clearly you don't, you're the one who told me that I wasn't managing my minors properly because AAA isn't for veterans by the way the game works. I used to have all 28-35 yr olds in my AAA team.
if you ask Dubs or Doc or Randawg you'll know that i'm more than happy giving those guys away and nobody wants them. i'm stockpiling the same talent anyone else could. we just don't have the proper structure of minor leagues, there are too many players and they don't retire.
and draft pick trading isn't sim now. the same rules that were in effect in regards to draft pick trading are still there. the only difference now is there is a bonus pool that can create comp picks. those can be traded. which are basically none.
you sound like one of those cops you always bash right now. at least know what you're talking about.

Now HERE is the immersion I was hoping to read when I quit!!!
Nothing like an old fashioned OOTP scandal to get the immersion flowin.

@ aj - the lolcats appreciate the praise, but the lolcats are humbled to haveba chance at making the postseason after losing so much talent.
@trendon - lol - oh and bring an extra catcher and an extra reliever this year.
@ dave - double lol - he did bust you with the 6 man rotation,, welcome to the darkside. And before you say anything, there is no such thing as a 5.5 man rotation.

I've run a 6 man rotation for a long time, at least 4 seasons.

So, Houston A takes a 1/2 game lead with 2 sims to go. The remaining 12 games will be very tough, but luckly for Houston, they will be at home where they sport a 41-28 (.696) record. We felt we would gain a bit of ground this week as we played lowly Texas and Indy. But the last 2 sims we take on some very talented teams . . . all 4 are either in the playoffs or fighting for a WC spot.
3 vs New England (83-67 overall, 39-36 on road)
3 vs Miami (77-72 overall, 34-37 on road)
3 vs Sheltown (96-54 overall, 45-30 on road)
3 vs Albany (77-73 overall, 40-29 on the road)
Houston A did change up a couple of things this week. We are a combined 12-21 against these 4 teams, so in order to win, we feel we need to change up a few things. Not really going to say what it is . . . but we will see what happens.

I'm not moody man. I'm always like this. It's just a tad confusing when I see a team with a +8 pythag, only 6 games over .500, who hasn't really ever done anything calling other teams "lowly"
Like I said, just made me chuckle.
Who am I to judge? no one really. But I do it anyhow...
take it with a grain of salt.
FWIW, I think you've had a great season thus far. Just funny is all, nothing to get twisted about

Gotcha....Preciate the info
I don't know crap about pythag (honestly, no idea what it means). I just know my team is performing better than anyone (including myself) ever expected. You have your preseason expectations...you have your experts...you have your teams that seem to ALWAYS make the playoff... Then out of the blue a team from no where (just so happens to be mine) gets things going and strings together a few wins...and gets into position to make it to the next level. I have been the "lowly" team since I took over Kentucky and moved them to Houston.
No disrespect to Indy and/or Texas and/or any other team near the bottom, but the way the last 3 sims were set up, I needed wins against the sub .500 teams being I was about to play 4 solid teams. If calling them "lowly" was disrespectful...then I'm sorry. But needless to say I needed the wins versus them and as I expected, I got them.
I look forward to seeing if the changes I made to my lineup/rotation will pay off this sim...
