NFL Thread
Re: NFL Thread
Michael Lombardi is the GM in Cleveland so they should be fine.
Runningbacks are a dying breed in the NFL. I did some projections, this year theres gonna be 12 000 more passing yards and 8 000 less rushing yards. Giving up a eh halfback for a first to a new regime when they can spend the 2 1sts on say, QB and BPA, and then use a proper pick on a HB (2-4 range) they are fine going forward.
Browns are probably trying to tank for Bridgewater who looks to be that QB prospect this year.
Also Seattle cut ties (believe i said this before) 2 years after they drafted Aaron Curry top 5 and they are just fine going forward. NFL has a lot of parity because of non guaranteed contracts you can rebuild an entire team in 1-2 years (see: Rams)
I like the deal from the Browns stand point. Everyone assumes that its a 20th+ pick but Indianapolis struggled at home against Oakland, and then lost at home to Miami, and they were also one of a few teams in NFL history to make the playoffs with a negative turnover diff, so I dont see how theyre a lock to make it this year. the pick could be in the 10-15 range easily.

It makes perfect sense.shel311 wrote:Until the next new FO is brought in and they do away with all the picks gotten by the old FO?ReignOnU wrote:the FO doesn't feel that he's the answer and they managed to get a 1st that should fall between 16-24 for him![]()
This doesn't make any sense, really, IMO, or maybe I just don't understand it. Teams don't just go from 2-14, terrible, to getting 10 great players and being a perennial playoff team immediatley. You slowly build, and then 6-10 7-9 seasons are had with the idea that you are continually building your team so you get incrementally better and the 7 win season later turns into 9 or 10 win seasons.ReignOnU wrote:The difference that he makes on this team, would at most be a 6-10 season vs. a 2-14 season. The impact of his team would actually be a net negative, because it would move the team down in the draft. If you're going to lose, then freakin' lose and get it over with
You lose horribly right now... and most likely next season. You build the core with tons of young talent. Then you succeed for many years, as opposed to constantly toiling around 6-10, 7-9 and not being able to secure major difference makers or building a team that can grow together. The defense is 1-2 players from being top tier. The offense is a disaster. The QB wasn't going to make it, the RB wasn't the right fit or wasn't seen as the answer and the WRs are a joke (minus maybe Gordon who has other issues). So you nuke what you have, try to get some difference makers on O and go after it. This FO isn't settling, I'm ok with that.

After listening to Cowherd, I take back my initial opinion: it is a great deal for Indianapolis and a good one for Cleveland.

Maybe I'm being the silly optimistic Browns fan... I'm not going to say I like the move, but I don't hate it. Personally, I think Richardson has the skill set to be an elite RB. But I also realize that he hasn't done it. 1yr wonder Peyton Hillis looked far more impressive in a short time span, with an incredibly bad team around him. Not saying he's better, it just makes you wonder if Richardson is missing something. Maybe there is something to the idea that he had massive holes to run through at 'Bama.

That is probably an accurate assessment considering the direction of each team.

Everyone defending the browns are forgetting one simple thing... its the Browns.
seeit will probably become the offensive coordinator before they have a plan in place that works

They draft fairly well, to be honest. The Weeden thing is hurting but, remember, nearly everyone thought he was straight out of central casting; big, mature, rocket arm, deadly accurate. He is a stick in the mud but it looked like a good pick, if not slightly overreaching.DRiccio21 wrote:Everyone defending the browns are forgetting one simple thing... its the Browns.

I just looked, by the way, where the fuck did all of their 2013 picks go? They had four.

Great article on CNN and website related to a breaking/entering house party/destruction of former NFL player's home in NY.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/19/us/new-yo ... ?hpt=hp_c2
http://www.helpmesave300.com/
Amazing that with all that happened to his house, he's more concerned with the kids that did the damage and helping/saving them. Will be interesting to see if any step forward and admit responsibility given all the Facebook and Twitter evidence.
How long do you think some of these kids are grounded for?

You have too much knowledge of the Jags and Browns offense. No one should be watching the Jags and Browns play football except for the random times you see them on the Redzone Channel .ajalves wrote:?shel311 wrote:AJ is in desperate need of the Redzone Channel!ajalves wrote:teams better start learning to defend the 5 yards crossing route ...now!!!DRiccio21 wrote:Everyone defending the browns are forgetting one simple thing... its the Browns.

It was actually a dig at if Seeit was the offensive coordinator. He'd be calling plays how he does in his NDL games....

(ps, i dont think ive ever played Seeit....it was a joke....one i needed to explain apparently)
