This is weird. I'm sure a few of you remember the Kristin Smart case from the mid 90s. Blonde college girl goes missing, one of those that made national news for a while.
Kristin’s mother, Denise Smart, said she recently was contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and told to be ready for a development that might bring closure to her more than 20-year nightmare.
“Be ready. This is really going to be something you don’t expect. We want to give you the support you need,” Smart said she was told by authorities.
The FBI also suggested she secure a family spokesperson and that the family “might want to get away for a while,” Smart said. What the FBI didn’t tell her is when this development might be announced.

oh I'm on it, but if anything, it'll come way down the road.
I have doubts that it went down anything like that though, the whole thing doesn't really make sense.

That is an extremely odd way of leaving a family in limbo like that. Maybe it was a hoax? I just have a hard time seeing an agency like that leaving a mother out on the line like that.

Some verified Twitter guy who is an investigative journalist with NBC tweeted a quote from the FBI saying they're not aware of any new details set to be made public.
Feels like the family was duped, if I had to guess.
