oh shut the fuck up shel. The olympics are all about participation, always have been. They have always stressed that from the beginning. If you had it your way, the olympics would have 80 less countries... there are people like you and they should watch the world championships. So sit down and watch but quit bitching.

What are you talking bout? What did I say in the ootp thread?

Also, allowing professionals in the Olympics as opposed to only amateurs, was that about participation?

not here to debate it with you, arguements with you are usually useless.

All I asked in OOTP forum was for someone to look up the AL wildcard race. You ignored my post.

Is this real life? Lol

So you're upset cause I didn't check standings for you, even though I haven't even checked them for myself?

Did I get that right?

If youre the third best in the world in a particular sport, you should get a bronze. I get the whole "spread the medals around" stance, but they might as well just hand out participation ribbons to everyone then. I had no idea the rule existed, so dumb. If Im honest it takes some of the enjoyment out of watching some of these medal rounds now, knowing there are better/more qualified athletes not participating

She isn't the third best. She's the world champion. Thing is: she shouldn't have fucked up. These rules have been in place how long? If you're the best and deserve a medal you don't come in third place on your own team. I feel bad for her but it is her own fault. Im not being callous, I feel real bad for her. She's got to be devastated.

I was speaking to the rule in general with the "third best" comment.

[quote="OracleHCR" If you're the best and deserve a medal you don't come in third place on your own team. [/quote]

So why dont they just hand out the medals after the qualifying round and call it good? Instead, she has to sit out and watch players ranked #5-X participate knowing she posted better qualifying scores. And its not just her, Im talking any sport. if the three best table tennis players in the world are from China, shouldnt they each win a medal? The rule seems so idiotic.

I understand you point of view. The reason she is on the outside looking in is because she made mistakes. They all did. She made more though. If you are the world champion you shouldn't put yourself in that situation. That's the rule like it or not. I'm not saying I agree with it but it is what it is.

The US could also do what the Russians did in I think it was Greece. It may have been Barcelona. They had the same situation. The second place girl on the russian team had a mysterious injury that allowed the current world champion to take her place. She went on to win the gold.

Times were different then. If I can change, you can change. We all can change!

Also, Argentina-France is tipping off right now on the NBC Olympic Basketball Channel. This should be a good one.

beach volleyball is good but i can't watch indoor. Its odd for me to watch 2 people cover a certain area in beach volleyball then turn on indoor and see a small army try to cover the same area. lol it's fn weird
