I read another article saying the US decided to make their own, and that in itself wasn't an issue. It stated the US has some of the brighest folks working on these things an can usually come up with something even better.

But in this case, we completely failed. We had some kits that were allegedly contaminated. We're still wayyyyyyy behind on the # of kits needed to ensure everyone who has any symptoms or has had any contact with anyone infected like we need to.

If we had that, we'd be in a much better place. LIke I said in my first post, I'm not sure if it was Trump specifically who made the call to not use the WHO's kits, but his actions up until the past 3 days have really got us behind the times here.

heat won’t do much. It’s obviously not summer there but Iran and Italy aren’t exactly winter wonderlands.

The avg temp in Italy in Feb and March is just below 50 degrees.

A quick search on Iran, didn't seem like the best site, but Feb/March temps avg showed 52 and 55.

Not just a rumor, but some shit like she had an underground tunnel to her house to facilitate the trafficking. It was a bit too wild to believe, even in today's climate.

well the CDC guy said it wont do anything since its airborne.

and
But humidity doesn't seem to matter much to the COVID virus, according to another group of researchers. They found the virus spread in many regions across China, from the cold, dry north to the warm, humid south.

And then there's Singapore, a hot, humid country where transmission is ongoing.

Heat and humidity don't completely stop the flu, either. Some studies show transmission declines closer to the equator, but influenza is still a major cause of hospitalization and death. And during the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic, tropical Mexico, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Guatemala were among the countries with the highest death rates.

theres gonna be changes going forward.

- if its true itll take 18 months.. unrest of healthy/recovered people will become too much. Going to cause Civil unrest in a lot of countries and probably war
- Do they get it contained and then choose to infect area by area so they can have it "under control" and get people back out into society?
- Will people have to wear something to show theyve "recovered" so they can go out and live their every day life?
- When will people say "fuck it" and volunteer to get sick, quanantined and recovered to help move on?
- little things. How are people gonna get cigarettes who smoke when the chains slow down? Imagine millions of people jonesin for a smoke ontop of this.

What will come of this

- Massive medical advancements.
- Probably the big jump to taking us to a singularity.

I'd bet Americans won't deal with this mass self quarantining THAT long. Obviously you can only do so much if businesses are shut down, but within 1 month, I'm guessing most Americans will start going about their business as they were before as much as they can.

Shoot, I'm already planning to take my kids to the skate park this weekend...if it's open lol.

Italian grandkids are the reason their grandparents are currently dying. They found that multiple generations living under the same roof is why it spread so quick there. If AMericans want the thought of killing their family on their mind then go outside and run the streets.

I don't have any nearby 80+ year old family members with compromised immune systems, so we're in good shape. :)

We are going for walks and such daily but definitely keeping our space with the kids and ourselves accordingly.

Not going anywhere near public spaces at this time outside of grocery pickup and being the lone soldier on those missions

We're quarantined and working from home.

The extent of people I know and will see daily are my 2 kids and my wife. And again, we're all not 80 years old, so if any of us got this virus, the odds of death or anything wild like that would be similar to if we had the common flu.

Hell, I don't think COVID has killed a single person in the entire world as young as my 2 kids are.

ya the good thing about this specific disease is it doesnt spread by kids and kids havent really been effected. They loveee passing germs around too as ive had a constant running nose working at this damn elementary school.

the cynic in me is thinking the simulator (the thing that created us) got tired of the boomers not taking climate change serious and sprung into action. Everywhere thats country wide quarantined is improving its environment ten fold.

The youngest person to die in the US from COVID was in their 50s. The avg age of death in the US from Swine Flu was 41, and no one cared one bit about that virus when it was going around, pretty sure we all kept going about our busy the same way we always did. We really should be mass testing/isolating anyone with symptoms or who had exposure to someone infected, only older people should be totally under self quarantine, keep the shutdown of large gatherings, but otherwise i think the rest of the public should be going about their normal business with just being more cautious unless they live with an older person, who should be social distancing anyway.

Mexicans drink their own water so it should be good for Americans too right? Just because the whole world is using something that is accurate 60% of the time (if that number is accurate in of itself), why should we be relegated to something that could be wrong 40% of the time? I would assume we could do better than that as well. But yeah, they fucked this one up

I'd say that's pretty accurate for Iran. The northern part of Iran is probably colder by 10 degrees on average if it's the same as northern Iraq compared to southern Iraq during this time.
