I've done my own little experiment the past 4 days or so.
I have alternated between CNN and Fox News being on in the background while I work or just whenever.
I have always heard the differences in the reporting and all that but never truly watched either.
It is truly fascinating, and disgusting, how each of them push their agendas and deliberately share misinformation and spread the negativity of the sides.
Experiment over as I cant do it anymore

And you aren't even seeing the worst of it by watching during the day. Try the opinion news cycle of primetime news. Way worse!

And one side will only listen to CNN and block anyone on social media that disagrees with their side, and similarly on the opposite side.
And the end result is the echo chamber where people only read from and follow/listen to people/sites that will tell them exactly what they want to hear, and they think that's the actual news because that's what they're seeing.
It's sad to see how naive and just not very smart the vast majority of the US is using this as the barometer.

Some of it was like watching a comedy sitcom. They were clipping videos to their agenda, adding their humorous commentary and their "expert" panelists were so one sided it was scripted.
It was rather eye opening and cemented why I will continue to get my news from Twitter and the like.

On non-political or Corona news.
I was sutting there taking a shit and thought, how bad would it be if I broke my right arm. Tried wiping with my left and was surprised how uncoordinated I was with my left for this. I can eat left handed, shoot pool left handed just as good as right handed but can't wipe my own ass left handed.
Things you think about while shitting never ceases to amaze me

Same thing goes for doing "other" things with your left hand.
I get it

Obviously I lean right but the stupid shit Sean hannity says appals me. He is the new Rachel Maddie. I wish both would lose their voice and can never be on TV again. Same goes for Don Lemon. I used to love Anderson Cooper but he has become hateful in the Trump age, it's disheartening. I still like Cuomo though. As far as the right opinion news I like Tucker Carlson (hated him when he was just a contributor but he has grown on me)

First time alternating newscasts? I don't watch much news on tv, but when I do, it's probably 60% CNN, 30% Fox and 10% other (CSPAN is really good for committee hearings, etc).

Best part of CSPAN, between live features, they have live call-ins and they try to have a mix of left-right-left-right... it's almost as if they don't use call screeners to do anything but determine party affliation. You'll get the strangest, most uneducated, out of this world people calling in.

Yup.
Honestly the first time watching the news consistently for a sustained amount of time in probably 5+ years? Only time I tune in is for huge events such as 9/11, Boston Bombing, etc.

One thing I find funny is the conundrum the hard core right, blind Trump supporters are in.
Trump was calling this a hoax and fake news, and they were just eating it up.
Then 3 days ago, Trump completely changes his tune and finally decides to take it seriously, and now his most loyal/blind followers don't know what to do or believe any more.

I have a hardcore Trump supporter at work who is still firmly in the hoax camp and that because we're the US we won't be hit nearly as hard as any of the other countries... He's also antivax

I don't think this is a hoax at all. I just don't think it's as bad as it's made out to be. I still believe that if there were more tests available that the number of Corona virus positives would be unreal. But that alsoakes it not as deadly as most think it is to the whole population to the point of shutting damn near everything down.

It's nice that you don't need the news, you just needs his direct quotes from an announcement or from Twitter.

If you think that's interesting, you should live in Ohio right now. DeWine is a GOP senator and other than his stance on gun laws (it's mildly restricting), the right really support him here. With him being well out in front of other states, a lot of republicans are mixed on his approach and many democrats are throwing him praise, while stating how they hate everything else that he does.
It's even more intense where I live, because his daughter is currently in a heated race for county prosecutor. She has very little experience, but has apparently spent over $500k on a local campaign. The county she's fighting over is heavily red and she's up against a former military candidate with a long track record as a prosecutor. Needless to say, the whole last minute election cancellation raised a lot of questions.
