Twisted OD - Y6 WEEK 7 (12/29 11:59 pm est)

Re: Twist OD - Y3 Week 7 (6/6)
I would agree with Jsence on this one. I threw 5 picks in my game and 4 were defenders breaking from 10-15 yards away. It was somewhat comical. Im trying to keep my rushing down and throw more this season, cause I dont want be seen as "padding stats" But I almost lost my game because of it, and it was just safer to grind out a W on the ground.

+1 on the superhuman DB's.
Re: Twist OD - Y3 Week 7 (6/6)
ya, DBs were a bit insane. I don't mind the TIGHT coverage, but maybe drop the CPU INT down a bit. Everything else was good.

Re: Twist OD - Y3 Week 7 (6/6)
Defensive CPU was terrible, as I simmed my game after the first quarter, but the game froze after two simulated games...only to lose the third sim...
I took three steps back, and Georgia Tech played like the 46 defense (Chicago Bears) in 1985. Was not enjoyable...

Re: Twist OD - Y3 Week 7 (6/6)
I can lower the CPU INT slider down a little. As for tight coverage, well....
I know we all play differently, different philosophies, different opinions of how to play against the CPU, etc. Let me explain how I see things from my point of view.
Week after week I look at the scores of the games and I see USER teams beating the CPU by, what is in my opinion, ridiculous amounts. When we're putting up 60 or 70 points a game it's time to make some CPU defensive changes. Dig into the stats and then you start seeing QB's throwing for 500 yards and 5 TD's, WR's having 150 to 200 yard games but only 4 or 5 catches, etc.
I believe what is happening here is everyone has gotten used to the CPU defense being lackluster in the previous weeks/seasons. We're not playing football in the sense of developing plays and setting up our offense, instead we've found "money" plays and/or passes we know will get us big gains or automatic TD's. We've conditioned ourselves to not have to pay attention to how tight the coverage is, where the spy is, or if there's a DB or LB sitting in a zone somewhere.
Yes, the defense is tougher. Yes, I can lower the INT for the CPU. But the overall defense needs to remain tough. If INT's are making everyone unhappy we can lower it and look at raising pass coverage a bit. I'm fine with that. It's time for us to have a challenge here. We shouldn't have 8 undefeated USER teams at the end of the season.
Speaking of which, add into the fact that half the league is either not willing to play USER games or doesn't want to play some of the guys who are in this OD and now we're stuck with teams beating up on the CPU and basically just competing for awards and recruits. That in itself demands for the CPU defense to be tougher.
Please don't think this is calling anyone out, play the game you want to play it. But I do want more of a challenge. I'm not looking for a game where I'm scoring 10 TD's a game, if I wanted that I'd start an offline OD. I'd like to go into my game concerned that I could lose this week.

ya, I don't mind the defense playing tough . . . I just don't care for the INT everytime they are near the ball.

Re: Twist OD - Y3 Week 7 (6/6)
not to be cynical but i'd much rather you guys get picked off by super human D and nearly lose than be on like a 33 game winning streak like FSU is.

FSU is just too strong, and Penguin is doing a great job with them with recruiting and every aspect of the game. It is going to take a user game to throw him off, which Clemson played FSU close two seasons ago, but he prevailed...he is going to slip up one day, not now, but one day...nick wrote:not to be cynical but i'd much rather you guys get picked off by super human D and nearly lose than be on like a 33 game winning streak like FSU is.

I'm pretty sure FSU is going to win regardless of where the sliders are.
Re: Twist OD - Y3 Week 7 (6/6)
That's the thing though--a defense shouldn't have a 68 rated CB blanketing a better wideout the whole game. Or a LB blanketing a WR with high route-running. There's "good defense" and then "lockdown".
Tough defense is fun. A guy draped over a WR who pulls a double move and isn't a good cover corner is a bit much. A guy draped over the WR every play is unrealistic when he's not a lock-down corner.
The biggest thing for me was watching a 245 pound LB instantly turn, react, leap, and pick off a pass thrown 5 feet over his head that he didn't even see thrown. That was NCAA 11 stuff there.

Re: Twist OD - Y3 Week 7 (6/6)
I love when the defense is in man coverage, and your WR is running a slant route and the CB is running the route for him, 3 feet ahead of the receiver. I'm always yelling at the receiver to just "STOP!!! Go the other direction and you're wide open!!!!" They never listen.....

Yup

Then you run a sluggo and the guy doesn't bite at all.

While of course I never want to lose, I do want competition and to play comet stove games. I know while I have some skill, I am at best in the 20-30 range if your rating skills in the people we have all played in the NDL. So I do believe it's a combo of y'all being a little soft and me having a near perfect qb. I'd expect Winston to leave this next offseaon, and if he doesn't I might just need to cut to him and see what I can do with a different QB.

Re: Twist OD - Y3 Week 7 (6/6)
I forgot to lower the CPU Interceptions slider last night so, again unfortunately, I will have to wait until this evening to advance us. Sorry...but I'm sure most of you won't mind waiting for that slider to be changed

I get the turning down picks, but are there other parts of the CPU defense we can turn up?
