Oddly... yes... about 2 weeks ago. My daughters got a kit that had 5 caterpillars in it. The amount of shit and other goo in that cup was pretty surprising.

Re: Random Discussions
Have you ever been to one?
There are confederate flags everywhere. I hated it as far as this.
I love that you can take a cooler full of beer into the stands though!
In my home town, I have got in many arguments with guys about this.
They fly the flags in their houses or on their jacked up trucks.
I asked them why...they said because of the south man....I said, you idiots realize Ohio was not part of the Confederate states?
They just look at me like a deer in headlights.
Around here, the rednecks that fly that flag only do it for 1 meaning and that is white supremacy.

I don't think anyone I've personally known to fly it does it for white supremacy, but I'm sure there's some out there that do it for that. It's mostly a macho/ego/image thing. "I'm a redneck!" "I'm a hardass rebel!" "I'm just a good ole country boy and proud of it!" Most don't have much of a clue about what's behind it, etc. Flying the flag certainly doesn't make you a white supremacist, no more than black person having a flag or decal of a fist makes them a racist.

Re: Random Discussions
Swastika was like some peace flag before hitler fucked it up.
point is.. no matter what ppl "want" the confederate flag to be.. it is what it is.
In fact, Wasted reminding me of the Swastikas origin.. is a perfect example.. its original meaning is not a murderous genociding dictatorship.. but you guys 100000% would never wave the flag, ever. Why not? its a "a geometrical figure and an ancient religious icon in the cultures of Eurasia. It is used as a symbol of divinity and spirituality in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism."
Because of what the Nazis did.
I forget where I was listening to it, I think Neal Degrasse Tyson.. someone brought up if in like 2050 a murderous dictatorship goes around using a giant yellow smiley face as their flag... generations goign forward would almost certainly never fly a yellow smiley face flag ever again because of its history. Even if it meant something completely different to the people before it.. and us older ppl would lash out "oh we like our happy face!" but then a new gorup would be like "my father got his throat slit from a guy with a giant yellow shirt on with a smiley face".. and oyure like "ohh i get it cause its finally happening to someone i know so it matters".

What nick said is spot on.
Sure, they fly it because: "I'm a redneck!" "I'm a hardass rebel!" "I'm just a good ole country boy and proud of it!"
But when you know these guys, you also know they are racist so they use the excuses you gave.

Re: Random Discussions
I'm on record really not giving a shit if people do or don't love the confederate flag, but I can certainly see how some folks would have some pretty strong feelings against it that I wouldn't for myself. And on the flip side, I don't think every single person who flies one is racist, there are probably some who just don't know better and/or grew up that way. But yes, there also a shit ton of racist rednecks who fly it as well. Ok, now that I covered every angle of that lol..
It's basically come down to anyone who doesn't see things my way, we cancel you. That's the more drawn out way of saying it, but that is kinda what nick said. It doesn't matter what you think about something, it matters what I think about it, and you will think the way I think about it, or we will cancel you. See Drew Brees.
Ok, rant over.
But I do feel like this, maybe not just in context of the flag, is a much larger representation of the issues in the country today.

A flag with a swastika tends to have a different stigma to it. To some people, the confederate flag is on that level, but if you were to poll the United States, you'd likely find that there's a lot more to it right now. Shel's point is what is a lot of what is going to turn the confederate flag into much worse. Maybe JD's experience is that every single person he knows that lifts that flag is a racist and they fly it to promote white power. I don't have a counterargument to deny that. But I'd say less than 1/5 that I've known to fly it have any kind of racist intention behind it.
It should be really concerning to a lot of people that virtue signaling and cancel culture are so prominent in our country right now. That's a whole lot of acting out of emotion and without a lot of rationale thought.

Re: Random Discussions
My guess is that if this same poll was conducted prior to 2016, it would look a bit different. Also, if we conduct this same poll in 5 years, it will be heavily slanted toward racism. Within a decade it could very well go from a fairly common image in the south to something akin to the Nazi flag and there's nothing that those 50% or so of people in the poll can do it about, even though they believe it represents their heritage.

Yeah, it is just my experiences that I speak of when I say things that everyone that flies it or displays it is racist.
In reality, it is probably a good 90% of people that live here that fly/display it, feel that way. I am sure there are a handful that do it because that is just how they were raised and do not realize the perception.
