We've been beat out by two cash offers, even though we had a clause to go higher than them. But cash and no appraisal will win damn near every time. Going to hit the grind again today.
It's been a shitty week all in all. Wife's mom went to the ICU yesterday. Kidneys are failing/failed, intubated and may have a clot in her lungs. It doesn't look good at all for her and I think the wifey knows it. I just don't want her passing away in Friday if she is going to go. My dad passed away on October 2nd, which happens to be my son's birthday. He already doesn't care anymore for it after my dad passed, this will devastate him as he is extremely close with his Grandma.

On a new house?
But what happened to the other house you were about to close on?

I thought I posted about it. The dickhead wasn't willing to get it fixed by a licensed contractor. We offered $7500 over appraisal because there was nothing else to be done, after bathroom was supposed to be updated, and he said no to us having that back for us to do it right. We mentioned the 70s vanity and he stated it was there when it was listed. So we signed a release from contract contingent that he releases our earnest money. He declined. Our realtor was giving us everything they could do but not what our options were. So we told our realtors we were getting a real estate attorney and will fight it out that way. Our realtor cut us a check for the earnest money. I think this was because they knew they fucked up and didn't represent us well. We fired them and got a new realtor, and she pretty much said they fucked us by not putting anything in the contract regarding the bathroom.

Woke up one morning and decided to buy a new home... no lender, no realtor, you know... just normal shit. Hoping the experience doesn't turn out like yours.

Yeah, contract details are super important. If they didn't include the details about the "to-go" work that sucks.
We went back and forth multiple times regarding the roof on our house and other inspection details before agreeing to the language.

The house hunt should be over. Our bid of $198k won over a $200k escalation to $215. We included in our bid we would add up to $3k over appraisal but not to exceed $198k. I think they know their house is worth right around $193k-$196k and that they would have gotten more money out of us than that $200k offer once the appraisal came back. So October 30th cannot come fast enough

Congrats George hope all goes well for you. We've also got a closing set for 10/30... just waiting to see how the appraisal on our home (tomorrow) and the home that we're purchasing (not sure on timeline yet) will go.

I love these..
Would you rather taste every single thing you touch or not be able to taste anything at all?

Not taste anything at all. The over sensitivity to every different taste would drive me nuts. Not tasting anything at all would suck but I could live with it
Man we haven’t had one of these questions in a while ...

Choosing that one too.
Came down to too many things for me that I never want to even consider tasting.

Taste everything. I think you guys underrate how much you need things you taste in your life. Hell, ask ppl who lost their taste sense with covid and how shitty it was. For the rest of your life? Woof

Losing taste when I have a cold is awful, but I don't I think it's as awful as testing hand sanitizer between every patient

I'm confused by the question. Does that include tasting this keyboard right now? Or the computer mouse? Or the kitchen trash can?

It’s pretty clear I’d say and yes to your questions.
