straw men?

Brady barely got touched for about a 5 years span. his oline was insane. not to mention he only threw those dink and dunk passes you love so much until Moss came around.

if you have time in the pocket, a good gameplan and an accurate qb, the quality of a WR is vastly overrated. the guys are NFL recievers still, they can catch the ball.

Even further, he shit all over whatever Manning & Brees stats you want to throw up here when given the talent. So, you can go on and on about who is #1 and I'll merely disagree, but if you say "level" ... well, you're insane.

I completely agree about you saying the "level" talk is insane.

But your 1st couple of comments about strawnmen and Brady's stats 3 years ago, explain to me how that makes him better right NOW?

The concept of right now is something you can't seem to grasp, lol.

Because I have a brain and eyes and I know that Brady is still that good, maybe even better. Am I not allowed to make an opinion on what I SEE.

it can be a small part of your argument. but it certainly shouldn't be your focal point. opinions are worthless.

Then explain why Givens and Branch have become persona non grata since they've gone. Brady made them. Shit, Brady made Belichick.

Actually, he was one of the most oft-sacked quarterbacks his first four seasons. I can't name more than one guy on that OL.

So what have you SEEN from Brady since his knee injury that makes him better than Brees?

Give me something, anything.

OK then. I revise my greatest quarterbacks list.

Dan Marino
Dan Fouts
Warren Moon
Drew Bledsoe
Brett Favre

Montana, Unitas, Brady, and Bradshaw are out.

this is pointless to argue with Trendon. he's 'nick-like' in this argument.

Tom Brady was actually a very average QB by DVOA for the first 3 years of his career

Bledsoe???

he's trying to prove a point by saying the stats don't always mean everything.

which is crazy cause he's using stats like TD's and Yards as his metrics. for such a forward looking statistical analyst, you'd think he'd be a little more intelligent then that

Agreed.

He continues to just SAY Brady is better now, but hasn't offered one shred of evidence other than what he "sees".

I gave a nice, long list for Brees which I'd like to see someone compile for why Manning or Brady is better than Brees right now.

yea I know, but I don't know Bledsoe's numbers, but I don't think he fits in with those other guys. It's like a test, which answer does not belong. Elway off both his lists, hmm.

Since stats are the only thing that matter to you, take a look at Brady's and Brees stats from last season. When you see the differences, tell me ... how many of those differences come from the talent of the teams, something people always like to remind me about Brady.

Moreover, tell me which set of stats is more consistent with that person's career. All Brady did was put up the same fucking stats that had everyone screaming that he was the best QB in the league (excepting 2008 where he went bananas). So, I don't get how people are leapfrogging him. I mean, everyone knows Brady is going to throw for 4500 yards, complete 65% of his passes, and toss 25-30 TDs against 10-15 interceptions.

I guess Brees did win a Super Bowl.

Oh, wait ...

See, Shel, even Dave knows you are an idiot. I am just sinking to your level.

Bledsoe was one of the best pure passers this game has ever seen. He put up huge amount of yards and got the Patriots to two Super Bowls. So, by Shel's measuring stick, he might be Top 5. He was also sacked every other throw (largely his own fault courtesy of his own bravery) so he gets Riccio Points.

So, what this all boils down to is, when I use stats, stats mean nothing.

But you refute that by pointing out, wait for it, STATS!!

Love it.

Well, I am merely responding to your stats since that is all you've brought up. Which is fine if you don't discount that Brady is (probably, can't be sure) the winningest QB in the NFL right now. It is hard to say, "this one is better" after one 10-7 season where he "only" put up above-average stats for him.

I'm just still trying to figure out how Brees is 4th best.

You seem to forget that the Saints had tons of injuries 2 years ago, and Brees STILL had 5000 yards passing on 8.0 yards per attempt.

He has production, he has a title. He's played lights out when guys were injured and made Lance Moore a "star" LOL.

No clue how anyone would rank him 4th.

You make it sound like that is a bad thing.

Brady, Manning, Rivers, Brees.

What an insult!
