I think we will be around for a while...I have been here and seen us go from a league that was a ghost town after season 3 of a title, to having good leagues for 2k, Fifa, and shoot'em up nights...It was the only reason I bought a PS3 at first, and is still the main game I buy for the ps3. The NDL is just like family to me now, and the wife still asks about the goings on, and Nole, and if anybody has heard from JeffMo and Carman...

I think there seems to be a more active online base on the 360, than on the ps3 as a whole, and I think we would close the gap on that, if the ps3 had cross game chat, and a pack in mic, like my 360 came with, to encourage online gaming and chat.

I think we need to advertise the league more on other sites...I like NDL2 way more than LD, but for new guys searching for a league, NDL was always at or near the top of the LD ps3 ncaa search, and that probably got us some farmers.

I first wanted to win when I started this league (and thought I was doing it SIM), and my coaching reports suffered for it. I got an email from JeffMo and Nole way back after season 7 ended and realized that this league was more than winning. This league to me is all about the camaraderie amongst men from all ways of life. My wife made fun of me the first couple of seasons as I'd sit there with my headset on and chat. Then after telling her some stories from the boards she realized that it wasn't just a bunch of nerds playing W.O.W. but a bunch of men that loved football.

I do think we need to go on a recruiting binge to bring more guys to the Farm. A couple of pages back someone said that his buddy was in the farm and never got any feedback from how he played. Maybe a grading system or some style of coaching reports to these guys mid-season and end of season would help them start playing the right way. I could help out with this, I'm not going to Iraq or Afghanistan anytime soon (at least I'm not tracking that I am).

i happened upon this league in my search to add to my want to play NCAA. i am in another league with a good group of guys but i wanted to try to see if i could earn Nebraska in this elite league i heard about. the one time i think i had my shot...sixft ripped my heart out

i thought about quitting. seeing as how i wasn't contributing a whole lot on the boards and how i hate losing more than i like winning. but, Nole's words keep ringing in my sub-subconscious. in a short aim conversation early on in my time here he said something like "it's guys like you that are the backbone of the league." i thought, "what a dick, he just called me a loser." but, i am a loser. that's why i'm here. that's why we're all here.

so, because of Nole and his need for me to be here...i stay. forever searching for that moment. that moment where EA makes a game compatible with me and allows me to win my division. that moment where i can aim "Nebraska."

but until that time...i search for my Buffalo.

LMFAO! My apologies man

totally didnt meant to make it sound like "guys like you who dont win", meant good guys like you in general who develop a great reputation and are the backbone (like me) because u can go 4-8 or 8-4 or 12-0 and still be the doundation even if you dont post as much as some of us post whores do

shiiiiiiiiiit, ive told that to at least 10-15 guys who i really mean it about...they prolly all think im a dick too

I do what I can.. Hey I gotta be known for something and right now it is pissing off the Husker fans ;) :P

I have actually have come to really like Nebraska.. though.. As this season I felt myself treating them like I do Cal, when I have them.. Which is not good, cause it leads to very mediocre seasons.

yeah, I'm kinda pissed you don't dynasty Cal... I would love for Cal to be used with a Cal fan but there is no chance I'm leaving Tulane.

LetsGoPeay wrote:So here's a question to get some discussion going: How has the NDL changed in your time in the league? I'm not talking about just the cosmetic changes like the webite (which is awesome) and things like that. I mean the attitudes or atmosphere of the league.

I would have to say that it seems like the actual game (NCAA Football) has become more of an means to an end for a lot of people. I mean that I really think quite a few people just stay in the league and play the game for the boards and other non-football game related stuff whereas it used be that people joined the league to play the game in a way they wanted to.
Long version....
Spoiler!
I just now saw this post. Great post by the way Peay!

When I first joined back I think in season 5 or 6, I'm too lazy right now to look it up but I joined after being in a league with a vg league with Swampee (NR4HL) Some of you might remember it and then Bicus Ball which lasted only a few seasons but had some great owners in it also. Swampee had played me a couple times in NR4HL and we also played with headset and had some great conversations football and non-football. He invited me to check out the farm and told me about the NDL and I was really interested because I was tired of playing "win at all cost" players. For me it was just fun to play and if I won because I called a great game than so be it but I didn't want to win just running the "money" plays.

I went into the farm and after half of a season got called up to the NDL and had a great time meeting new coaches. Stan and I lived only a couple hours away so we caught up a few times at some football camps and duck/beaver games. Even dole and bearass made a trip to Eugene. Let's not talk about that game though.... But the atmosphere was definitely guys were sick of east room play and looking for a place to play strategic football. I only had a couple of times where someone would pull east room crap which was funny because at the time I was recording and showing the entire football game to for other coaches to enjoy. Brocam really pushed me to stay on top of that lol. I think it helped him from being bored during the week at work :D

Now looking into the present, I still see us getting good coaches but in my opinion some of the new ones are so focused on winning that they are missing why the league was formed in the first place. And to me that's fine but I appreciate the "family" atmosphere from the group and not just the games.

My job has been really hectic these last few years and now I have taken a new teaching job so I feel like I am starting over again but hopefully when things calm down I can be more active in the discussions.
Cliff notes version....
Spoiler!
When I got into the league guys were looking for a place to not have to deal with east room crap and they were more into building a community that was fun to be a part of.

Now in the present I see more owners that are worried about their record and do not really understand why the league was formed in the first place.

I wish I could I could be more active on the boards but my job is keeping me from that right now because I have a responsibility to my students to be the best teacher and role model I can be.
Quack 8-)
