imo, most football players are products of their systems... moreso than any other sport. due to the reliance on other people for your own success.
in most other sports you can be shine individually even around bad talent... not as true in the NFL

Unless you are Barry Sanders could of been a proper way to end that statement.

Or Calvin Johnson...

CJ benefits from the 700 passes/200 targets a year system.

Jerry Rice is currently the "best ever"
but i'd say he benefitted from an offense that was far ahead of its time going against old fashioned defenses just as much as Johnson benefits from his 175 targets a year

Can we really call 200 targets from Matt Stafford targets? Really?

yes....yes you can, cause there are 200 other guys over the last 3 years worse than him at the QB position.

What does that even prove? It doesn't speak to the accuracy of his passing. It doesn't speak to his ability to perform w/o Johnson. It doesn't even tell you how he is relative to the league without knowing where he ranks overall, with everyone.
Here's an idea... using 2 different metrics...
2009 - 28/29
2010 - NR/NR
2011 - 7/5
2012 - 13/22
2013 - 11/10
So what is he really? Maybe the 10th to 14th best over that time frame, at most? That's with Calvin making ridiculous catch after ridiculous catch.

Or...maybe he spreads the ball out more instead of forcing it? You never know really, if Rodgers didn't spread the ball out and just forced it 250 times to a WR on his team, maybe he wouldn't be as "accurate"...you are merely talking what ifs. I think CJ is a stud, but to say Stafford is horrible...or just an average QB doesn't really make sense. This whole arguement is really stupid, you can't in any way compare RICE and CJ...they played in different era's, different rules, different game.

2
degrees of separation between Jerry Rice and Calvin Johnson
Share this on Facebook and Twitter.
JERRY RICE played on the 2001 Oakland Raiders with ...
Grady Jackson, who played on the 2009 Detroit Lions with ...
CALVIN JOHNSON
CONCLUSION: Grady Jackson is the second-best receiver of all-time.

What a freaking run by Adrian Peterson. Of course big credit goes to his lineman that held him up and kept him from falling down.
