Re: Random Discussions
Just learned that Richard "Dick" Marcinko passed away on Christmas. A true warrior! He was the one that fought for the formation of Seal Team 6 and it's first commanding officer. He was also an author, his first couple of books of non-fiction was outstanding.

After months of debating it I finally put an order in for one of the new Broncos. 2022 Outer Banks with the Sasquatch and High package. Now the wait begins!

Nice! I’ve seen them around the area and they look pretty bad ass. Very impressed with the interiors as well.Wasted Memory wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 11:04 am After months of debating it I finally put an order in for one of the new Broncos. 2022 Outer Banks with the Sasquatch and High package. What color did you go with?

Re: Random Discussions
Went in thinking either Cactus Gray or Area 51 (Light Blue). They had a galvanized gray on the lot and it looked really nice so ended up going with it.
Speaking of the ones on the lots. The mark up on them is ridiculous. Almost the exact same build I ended up doing but they wanted 10k more for it because it was ready and available after someone backed out of buying it. They acted shocked I wasn't willing to spend the extra money to have it now.

The car market right now is fascinating to watch right now.
My neighbor has an order in but went to a lot to test drive one and it was marked up well over $100k.
Madness
I like the galvanized gray color. I have really only seen them in the blues/gray hues. I want to see one in the green, my favorite color.

My wife and I both picked up new cars over the summer/fall. It's as if dealers were offering bat shit crazy amounts for our current cars and since we weren't really in the market, I just took my sweet old time finding the right deal and negotiation.Cnasty wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 12:46 pm The car market right now is fascinating to watch right now.

We moved her from a Dodge Journey R/T to an Audi S5 convertible. We were holding out for the kids to be able to situate themselves in the backseat, before getting her a convertible again (she had an Eclipse Spyder GT that she used to love). I wanted something quick, but a Camaro SS/Mustang GT wasn't going to work with her. The Audi is AWD and supercharged, so it fits perfect.
For me, I got a stupid high offer from a friend that runs a few lots for my F150 FX4. So I sold that to him and then bought a Dodge Durango R/T. My heart wanted the SRT, but like the Broncos, the prices are absurd. Plus, for about $3K-$3.5K in upgrades, I can split the difference in HP with the $30K-$40K more SRT... so that seems reasonable to me. The goal was something bigger than the Journey for road trips, fast enough that I enjoyed it, yet not too massive, so it was comfortable enough for her to drive. The thing really drives like a slightly bigger Charger.
Overall, pretty happy with both. I have had great experiences over the years with Dodge/Jeep vehicles and I'm certainly happy to be back in 1. This is my first go with a German car, so I'm still hesitant, but the performance is 1st class.

Same here
Over the years between my wife and I, we've had Cherokee/Wrangler/Commander/2 Chargers and then my wife currently drives a Grand Cherokee. Every single one of them have been super reliable.

Re: Random Discussions
I’ve always been a MOPAR guy minus my Tesla love and the connection with Spydie (former NDL guy) who fed me cars for over a decade. Multiple Rams, Cherokees and a Charger in there. I have always enjoyed their interiors more and their creativity behind the power in their vehicles.
I counted about 5 months ago how many cars I’ve had since me and my wife got together (20 years ago) and our current tally is 22 vehicles.
Ridiculous, I know.

22 cars and I don’t even have my license. I’m envious.

Maybe not financially smart, but it's on the list of things that are a sanctuary/my place... so I'll spend whatever I want on it.Cnasty wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 2:16 pm I’ve always been a MOPAR guy minus my Tesla love and the connection with Spydie (former NDL guy) who fed me cars for over a decade. Re: Random Discussions
Ever since I was a kid I’ve had a fascination with cars. My family grew up racing motorcycles and I spent a lot of time at the drag strip. I love just going for a drive.
It definitely fed into my addiction and hasn’t stopped as I have gotten older. Though I see myself content…for now.

I drive a 1996 Honda Accord with 96k miles!Whittness10 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 4:07 pm All you guys counting your cars and I’m still driving the hand me down 2011 Taurus with 257k miles on it.
It is by choice.
My wife's grandmother gave me the car for free with 48k miles on it so I drive it as a daily driver to work and back.
And like Reign, my coworker got like $6k over what he owed...he was leasing a new Tacoma and had it for 6 months. He got a camper and the truck wasn't big enough to pull it so he traded it in towards a Silverado and they gave him $6k more than he owed. Crazy to me as normally you would lose your ass trading in a 6 month old vehicle. The market is just crazy right now.
