The more I watch it, the more I don't believe he actually hit him. Chris Rock leaning into it before he actually "slapped" him. Nothing out of place after getting slapped. Unless Will Smith has some pillows for hands

And any self respecting man that gets smacked by another dude is going to put their hands on them.

Smith eventually won an award and made a whole scene while accepting and apologizing to the academy and blah blah blah.

I think at this point it was real but was impressive to see Rock take that hit like nothing and keep on going.

Again, if it was fake it was Smith and Rock’s finest performance.
