And no, don't bring up Marino. Elway > Marino. Nobody will compare Dilfer to Marino.

What do you think most people would say if I said Ichiro is a better hitter than Jeter?

At his age right now? No. Overall? Kobe and it isn't close.
before i laugh too hard, what are you saying?

are you saying Kobe has accomplished more in his career (i'm assuming you're counting things like rings in this)?

or that Kobe is a better player over the span of his career (if you're saying this, please make a case to show me how he's better and 'it isn't close'... or do your eyes just tell you he's better  )

It's a debate that gets us no where. You'll discredit the rings and I won't. Around in circles it goes.
Rings are pretty much the only way to argue in favor of Kobe.

/cue the clip from that new movie.

The smart people or the not so smart ones?

And I would bring up Tony Parker but u already told me he was better than all the other top PGs in the league. Time to find a new guy for me to make my next comparison lol.

just follow me and explain how this works.

hypothetically: Dallas shoots 35% instead of 55 % from 3 (which has absolutely nothing to do with LeBron). LeBron plays EXACTLY the same... a below average series for his talents and Miami wins the series. LeBron gets the ring. he's suddenly a better, more accomplished player in your eyes because of this?

they were 2 games away from winning the whole thing... anyone in their right mind realizes the games were a shot or 2 difference each way difference of a win or a loss.

so in your mind, JJ Barea and Jason Terry having good games and being that extra push over the top to win the series for Dallas is the reason that LeBron can never be as accomplished as Kobe (since in essence thats why he doesn't have a ring) .

Barrea and Terry are now, by default, top 3 PGs and SGs.

i think most people would tell you that they are very similar hitters. Ichiro was a better pure hitter while Jeter was better on-base and slugging guy. I think people who understood the game would also tell you that Ichiro played many of his prime years in a different country and didn't start in the MLB til he was in his late 20's.

i don't think anyone would bring up rings. ever. baseball analysis is far more advanced and those types of archaic ways of thinking are weeded out as each old writer dies. I mean, nobody in their right minds thinks that Jeter is a better hitter than ARod.

Ted Williams is considered by many to be the greatest hitter of all time... guess how many 'rings' he has.

Hypothetically: If LeBron didn't get apathetic and choke, would he have a ring?

Again, around in circles.

When LeBron 3-peats, we'll talk.

I don't think the 'rings' comment applies as much in baseball as it does basketball. 1 player can make a much more significant impact in basketball.

Most baseball people who arent biased for the yanks would agree is what people would do.

True.

Gonna be hard to top the Tony Parker example probably.

you know i thought that too until i looked up the numbers.

rings have absolutely nothing to do with it, but Jeter had much better plate discipline and more power. They are very similar but i wouldn't be upset if someone said Jeter and i'd probably lean that way.

Better Plate Discipline? not even close IMO. Jeter has had 9 100 K years at the plate to Ichrio ZERO ( His high strike out year is 86) He does Walk more so if you base it off that sure, but Ichrio has 10 straight 200 seasons so he aint looking for walks ( Jeter has had only 8 total 200 hit seasons despite playing longer)

Ichrio has better speed, better bat avg, and better bat discipline. Not even close in my book.

Agreed. Ichiro has like 2300 hits in 11 seasons. Imagine if he had came over to the US 6-7 years prior.
